First of all, keep in mind that most hotels in Cusco have no elevator, and they are 4 or 5 floors that you will have to climb up and down with your luggage and at 3400 meters above sea level, which for most people will create short of breath. My review here is for two hotels, as the day we arrived, the Valle Andino had an issue with a late checkout and didn't have a room for us, so we were moved for the first night to an hotel a cross the street called Villa Andina.
This hotel is an poorly renovated old house, our room was big but freezing cold, on the 4th floor. The lock in the room was broken, and thankfully the room had a double door. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear the tv on the adjacent room busting until 2 AM, and then at 5:30 AM we were woken up to the sound of the chairs on the 5th floor, where someone was fixing the restaurant for breakfast. And don't let me talk sbout breakfast there... I prefer to forget about it. The stairs were wood laminated on metal, which makes them really noisy. Additionally, these two hotels are just half a block away from a bus terminal and you can hear the yelling of the touts from early in the morning till late at night.
Early in the next morning we were moved to our originally booked hotel, and What a difference!!! The room although on the 3rd floor, was nice, clean and cozy. Bathroom was spotless! the TV worked, OMG what a difference! Breakfast was good, eggs made to order, staff was amazing!
