Would stay there again!
The Barn is right outside of Vík, the coastal village that is the biggest town south of Reykjavík. The other hotels in Vík looked nice but the Barn was so much bigger, so modern, and it was nice to have a community feel. We got a private room upstairs and honestly it was great. No TV, but we could hear the howling wind all night and it was really soothing! We got beers at the downstairs bar our second night staying there which was fun too. The whole place is sparkling clean and the private rooms are a good size. You share a common three bathrooms that are private which wasn't a big deal to us. There is a communal kitchen separated from the private rooms. We never used it but people were in there each night making dinner and it was nice that it was available as there aren't many restaurants in the area. All dorm rooms are downstairs and private rooms upstairs so it was nice to have some space apart if you wanted to be more private. It was affordable and we're super glad to have stayed there! Plus we checked off "HOSTEL" off our list!

GREAT stay!
AMAZING stay! Staff was so nice and friendly, the rooms were clean and fhe space was lovely. I would 100% recommend this place! It wasn't too far away from the town and everything about the area was so mesmerizing. The view from my room was breathtaking as it faced the mountains!

Nice modern hostel
Stayed one night at the Barn and overall it was a good experience. It's very modern and clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. There weren't many people during my stay so it was relatively quiet. I booked a room with 4 beds thinking it would only be 4 people but the beds are shared by two people each so there were 6 additional people in the room. Being winter everyone had there luggage and coats everywhere . i arrived late at night so not sure if there were personal lockers. Showers are outside the rooms but they each are large personal showers with doors. The restrooms are also individual small rooms and the sinks are shared along the hallway. Missed breakfast so not sure how that was. I had the top bunk and the clearance height above head is pretty low, it slopes to one side but by low i mean a 4 foot clearance from the bed, it's fine when you're sleeping but in case you're a taller person just keep that in mind. Personal curtains at the beds is always good for privacy. Parking is plentiful and right outside the hostel and it's easy to spot once you get off the N1 Ring Road. It's on the way to Black Sand Beach.

Modern hostel experience
Bed was super comfy. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom. Only two bathrooms for the floor. Needs more. Was good but expensive like the rest of Iceland. Very clean and great kitchen.

Modern, rustic hostel in an excellent location
We stayed at the barn for 1 night and it was fantastic! It was my first time staying in a dorm style setting so I was nervous but it was a pleasurable experience. We checked in with ease, not to consider we were early and were not given a hard time. The staff even accommodated my fiancé and I with a bottom bunk. Bathrooms and showers are separated. There’s even a little room with blow dryers for the ladies. Very convenient! The barn has a beautiful modern rustic feel. The bar area was great. We ordered drinks and played some games they had for the guest. Overall a great stay. I would definitely recommend and return in the future.
