8/10 Very good

Let's be honest, there's not much reason for civilians to be in Waiouru except as a stop on a longer trip. No offense to the town, it's a perfectly nice little place, just not much to do there. I literally needed a place to sleep overnight before continuing on to Wellington. Easy to find. Grounds looked clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking, generous sizes and different configurations for trailers, large vehicles etc. Check in was good - staff friendly, got milk for in-room coffee the next morning. The free beer or cider was an nice, unexpected touch. Little table n chairs set outside each room, in good condition. Room itself was pretty basic, but good for the price you're paying. Mini fridge, microwave, tea/coffee stuff with cups and mugs. TV with heaps of Sky channels, a few lighting options, plenty of towels and pillows. Heat pump - didn't use it, but looked fine. A few power outlets but in kind of weird locations. Bathroom a bit tired, but very clean and totally functional. Not a lot of noise overnight. Is a couple of turns away from SH1 though, so big trucks rumbling past pretty consistently. Bed was super comfy and plenty warm enough for spring. Check out was dropping a key in a box. Great stay, highly recommended for the price range.

10/10 Exceptional

This motel is very well appointed with lovely fresh bedding & linen (a must always with me), clean shower & WC facilities and fresh furnishings. Absolutely no mustiness - especially important with Waiouru being such a damp cold location in June. Heat pumps that make such a difference coming in from the outside temperatures. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. Travelling from TGA - this location is a new normal stop for us now - with a young man in Base Camp & a daughter in WGTN... We highly recommend this motel as a great comfortable stopover. See you there :)

10/10 Exceptional

The friendliness and kindness of the receptionist/manager, helpful advice as to where to eat, the honesty of the place, all made for two excellent nights accomodation. All the facilities I needed were available, SKY, microwave, plenty of tea and coffee, heat pump, toaster, excellent bed. On arrival I was offered milk and a choice of beer, a nice touch and very welcome. The only feature I felt could be improved was the very small bathroom sink, but space perhaps dictated the size. Excellent shower, good hot water. The owner was also extremely helpful and kind. I was in Waiouru for Army recruit graduation. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Waiouru Welcome Inn. It is an excellent place to stay in Waiouru. Thoroughly recommend.
