Hotel was ok but our jewelry was stolen
The hotel is all right...could use updating. I guess I will avoid Hilton’s in the future because my sister had a clear plastic bag that she put in the bedside table drawer. It was full of the jewelry she brought along. There were several necklaces, bracelets, and rings in it. There was nothing real expensive in it individually. Altogether, though, it was at least $750.00 worth of stuff at retail prices. As I said, she brought along a lot. When I reported it to the manager, he checked the records and told me the jewelry could not have been stolen because the only people who went in the room were the maid and us. Ok, and we didn’t steal our own jewelry, did we? He was supposed to follow up with us, but never did. I mentioned it to another desk clerk who seemed to be aghast but did nothing either. We should have put it in the safe, but I’ve stayed in easily over 100 hotels and never had a thing stolen so i feel safe. I brought one necklace with me which was the most expensive thing either of us brought, about $200.00. It was in my suitcase still after my sisters stuff was taken. I foolishly thought no one would be brazen enough to go in my suitcase and steal after we had reported the initial theft ..,guess what? When I got home I looked in my case, and THAT necklace was gone. Dumb me, but I just never thought of Hilton’s as being sketchy. Stayed in them as preferred hotel for years when I worked. It’s disappointing that no one seemed to care & it will happen again.

Very good 8.0
Great location! Comfortable room!
The only reason I didn't give the hotel 5's across the board was because of an interaction I had with a member of your front desk. We arrived at the hotel at 7:30 am. I asked the front desk if there were any early check ins available. The gentalmen said no we are at capacity. I then asked do you know when the earliest room available would be. He replied 3 O'clock at check in time. This is fine, I completely understand you were at capacity and you are not obligated by any means to provide early check in. However, the front desk clerk was very cold in the way he interacted with me. He never looked up from his computer screen, and all around wasn't pleasant. We then took a seat in the lobby as my wife and I planned our day. While we were sitting there a shift change happened at the front desk and a new gentlemen started his shift. I over heard him take a phone call and very politely and pleasantly tell another guest. "I apologize sir we don't have any early check ins available, but what I can do for you is take down your phone number and as a room becomes available I can give you a call. I stood up and I asked him if we could do the same thing. He replied "absolutely! Let me get your name and number and start your checking process, and I'll call you as soon as a room is available." Might I add the other clerk was still standing there and gave me a dirty look and walked away. Other than that situation our stay was great! It just sucked that it started off on a bad foot.

Exceptional 10.0
Hotel to go in Times Square
Loved the location. Not much to do in the hotel beside sleep but why you need to do anything at it if you are in the heart of Times Square. The room was surprisingly big for NYC standards. A public parking for your car is at the corner wall to wall to the hotel and the hotel guests have a $47 standard fee for 24 hours, very reasonable for NYC average prices. Just bring your ticket to the hotel staff and you can pay it at the hotel. Gray Line Offices at a one minute walk so you can arrange all tours. The hotel concierge was very helpful as all the staff. Rooms very clean, nice hot water pressure. The beds are so comfortable, elevators fast and not crowded at any time. Very good places to eat specially for breakfast. At the corner the Food Emporium has very good, fresh and affordable prices. Subway and Gray Line tour buses as well as city buses in the corner. Rooms with fridge, microwave, safe and many outlets ready to charge cell phones. The room was thoroughly cleaned every day. A little bit noise from the street but hey you are in Times Square and after touring all day it will not bother anyone. To tired so sleeping was easy. The roof bar was closed about one month ago but you will have plenty of bars including roof bars all around. City Sightseeing open buses with tickets including 7-10 activities are highly recommended and you will save a lot of money specially if you travel with kids. Returning to NYC I will select the same hotel. No additional fees.

Poor 2.0
Never go there
My worst ever experience, arrived there around 10 PM after long flight from Vegas and the gentleman at the reception asked for credit card to cover extras as the room was fully prepaid two months ealier although there was no filled minibar even in the room, anyway it is a policy and I asked him to leave cash as a deposit instead if credit card because I had a problem in my credit card his answer was very rude and only 2 words NO CASH!! I told him then what shall I do shall I be leaving and his answer was the rudest ever he said IT IS YOUR CALL!!!!!! do u imagine a room paid 2 months ago in full and the need deposit for extras and they dont accept cash otherwise I have to leave the hotel late night in 30F degree. What a service. Then thank good my card worked at that time only he started to talk I told him stop talking to me he literally shouted on me and said another rudest thing. He told me I say so and u have to OBEY!!!! Never expected obey can be used outside junior schools. Frankly if it was not late night I would have left the hotel immediately. Was my worst hotel experience in my life

Great stay in New York City
Hotel exceeded my expectations mainly because of the staff. Experienced Hilton staff were always smiling and happy to help, and proud of their hotel and city. On arriving early, the manager could have asked us to wait an hour for our room. Instead he allocated us a better room on the 7th floor, taking into account our wish to have 8th Ave views but less noise from the street below. The room itself was very clean, large enough for two adults and two teenagers, well air conditioned and with opening windows. It had a capsule coffee maker, fridge, microwave, as well as usual Hilton amenities. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and recently renovated, with a good powerful, hot shower! Location could not be better. Subway station is one block up 8th Ave at 50th St. It's the line serving JFK via the Jamaica / AirTrain service, which is a 1 hour trip max even at busy times. Being a short walk from Times Square, Broadway, and 5th Ave, as well as other Subway stations, it's not necessary to use taxis as a tourist. The hotel restaurant is being renovated. Of course there are plenty of alternatives. There was free coffee and tea available in the lobby at breakfast time. Things to consider before choosing this hotel: - 8th Avenue is busy, even at 3am. The double glazing is good but be prepared for noise from the street or request a room at the rear. - Currently no option to eat in the hotel. I would recommend to friends and stay there again.
