The check in lady went over everything, then asked if I wanted to upgrade for an extra $15 a night... Why not, we’re on vacation! Get our room keys, go up to our room, and it smelled HORRIBLE, like old seafood water or something. We were so tired and hungry we decided maybe the air will circulate and air the room out while we went and got breakfast. We were gone for an hour or so. When we came back it smelled exactly the same. We turned the tv on and the top half of the tv didn’t work. Called down to front desk she gave us a new room. Went over to the new room, everything was fine. We went down to the casino and did a little site seeing. After a few hours we went back to our room to clean up for dinner. There were at least 3 hairs in our shower, and even more hair on the counter and stuck in the door. It was gross. The next morning we asked for more towels house keeping cake in and it looked like they recleaned our room, however the hairs were still there. Bright and early Sunday morning there was literally one knock on the door someone said housekeeping and then the door opened. Literally happened in less than 10 second. No time to do anything. We put the do not disturb sign on the door the night before but guess they didn’t see it. I really wasn’t expecting to pay for everything in our room. Not providing a fridge is a little excessive. I was very disappointed in the resort as a whole. we will not be back or recommend the MGM Grand.

It’s beautiful but...
The room was amazing, the hotel and casino are clean. The staff is friendly. The problem? The prices for everything else. The resort fee, the drink fees, basic food items. You can get just as beautiful elsewhere and not get charged so much for it. I don’t think I would have minded the resort fee so much if we would have been served while gambling. I sat at a machine for a full hour and never saw a server. Tap (restaurant) had good food but crazy prices. We went to other hotels after the first night and had way better service and much lower prices. In room, there is no coffee maker. $18 to get a four cup pot of coffee that you have to wait over 30 minutes for. So we went down stairs instead and bought it at the shop and paid...$18 for 2 cups. We went to another hotel later for happy hour to eat and drink and only paid $45 total. We left stuffed and happy. So, would I recommend it? On looks alone, if that is all you are interested in, go for it. But for looks, service, cost and general overall, you would be so much better off elsewhere.

Check in was horrible. The line was so long We stayed in the line for an hour. That’s understandable busy weekend. After upgrading my room I had to wait nearly 2 hours for it to be ready. When the front desk lady told me it will ready by 3. When I finally got to the room and it wasn’t cleaned! What a disappointment! Peace of paper was still dried up on the shower wall somebody’s hair all over the vanity and shower floor. And when we finally opened the couch in the living room it has blood stain and some other stains. That’s was super disgusting! 2 hours of wait for my room to be cleaned and nothing was cleaned. After complaining the employee seemed not to care much and told me to talk to manager who gave us $75 towards our dining at mgm. I’ll take it but still doesn’t change the fact that I should not be staying in nasty dirty room. By the time we left they still didn’t change couch sheets that were stained by previous guest. I was just not trying to ruin my vacation spending all my time calling front desk. I told them my concerns and like I said employee didn’t care.

Lots to do at the MGM but complex is huge!
The MGM grand is a massive complex (maybe too big for most people). It was about a 15min walk from our room to the pool. Also 15 moms from our room in the grand tower to the exit to the strip so staying at this hotel requires a ton of walking. Rooms are clean and beds were comfortable. Resort was safe. Wi-fi internet not the strongest and you get nothing for your resort fee of $40 USD per night. Lazy river is free but if you want a tube you have to buy one for $25 or bring your own. Lockers at the pool were $15 which seemed excessive. We tried to eat at TAP bar but they denied seating to my party of 7 when only 4 of us were present. There were open tables and waiters hanging out at the hostess desk. They kept saying we needed a majority. We kept telling them 4 of 7 people was a majority but they rwere rudely said NO even after talking to a manager. I told them the remainder of my party was about 10mins away and we could start ordering for everyone. Again they said no. We complained to the lobby desk at the MGM and the manager was extremely gracious and made it up to us. I would say if there is anything you are unhappy with, let front desk know and they will be happy to assist you. I was pleased with their response to our complaint about the TAP manager’s inability to understand what a “majority” means. The MGM is located at bottom of strip so be prepared to have to trek it if you want to visit some of the more expensive resorts like the Venetian.

Stayed during the weekday for 4 nights with the family. We checked in at 11pm so I didn’t need to wait that long in line maybe 5 mins and the process was prompt. We chose MGM grand for the pool and it did not disappoint, just make sure you get there before it opens, because lots of people were already waiting by the gates to get a non-reserved spot (free spot with no umbrella) by the lazy river which opened at 9am when we were there, or if you want, you can find a spot at the main pool(s), they open at 8am and I noticed there were plenty of spots. You can bring food in and drinks ( non alcohol) but I overheard from the people who check your room key that alcohol is ok as long as it’s in a plastic cup. Please note they do still check your bags. Also, if you plan to swim in the lazy river bring your own tube and they will inflate it for you. Or be prepared to pay $22-27 USD for a tube. Food inside was prettying reasonably, we are chicken strips( 6) large size with fries for $15.99 USD, alcohol mixers $15-20 bucks and beers about $10-13. Overall, great stay, the room showed some wear, we were in the grand side strip view. Bathroom sink was not draining properly. Line up at the Check out counter was long, but surprisingly the line went quickly. And you also have an option to use the mobile checkout kiosk. We will definitely stay here again for the pool!!
