You Get What You Pay For At the Kimpton Rouge
If I were to rate this hotel out of five stars I would give it two. It earns one star for being conveniently located (roughly a 15-20 minute walk to the mall, and the zoo in the opposite direction) and one star for the complimentary services like breakfast (muffins, bagels, hot and cold cereal, assorted pastries), wine and appetizers during happy hour, and fruit-infused water throughout the day. The overall freshness of the food and the narrow, inflexible window for breakfast keeps it from earning an extra half star. It loses one star for the overall friendliness of the staff (for example, at check-in I wasn't spoken to beyond being asked to pay for my visit), and it loses two stars for the ridiculous 'guest amenity fee', a $28/night charge that encompasses wi-fi, long distance calls, and shuttles, regardless of whether or not you actually use these services, and regardless of the fact that there is a fee upfront to use them (wi-fi for example was $13/night- the reason why I didn't connect any of my devices. If you were going to visit DC, I would recommend not compromising quality for price. My friends and I wanted a cheap hotel and that's what we got booking here.

Poor 2.0
Hidden fee & Bloody bed sheet
HIDDEN FEE: 1. We had to pay $20+2.90(tax) hotel fee per night for each room including WiFi, small breakfast (really small, I could only found bagel eat) and a free cheap bar drink which we never bother to have. Ok!!! and fine, we would pay coz I didn't check carefully when I was booking in Expedia. 2. Found I was charged another $5.5 on the second day after check-out date so called them ask what's that for? I was told it's for the mini bar. But no one of us had anything from it except one of my friends moved the place of mini bar food coz she need place to put food for her baby daughter. Are the stuff blind? Waiting refund in 30 days now. BAD WIFI: Before I thought WiFi was free. It worked fine the first two days, but when we were back in the third day, all four of us iphones couldn't work. We were told by the stuff their iphones worked perfectly and no other complains about this. But ours worked perfectly in our first two day stays as well!!!! They asked the tech to try to fix it. After being hold for 10 mins, tech said nothing went wrong, the problem could be our four iphones!!! Bloody sheet: Really a horrible, disguising nightmare, and even still makes me feel sick now because I didn't find it until the check out day. Which means I had been Sleeping on IT for THREE DAYS!!!!!!! Was the stuff BLINDED when doing cleaning??? But I didn't bother to mention it coz last day anyway. Expensive hotel parking fee: $46+8.28 tax per night

I had an unpleasant stay at this property. I choose Kimpton properties because they are reliably new, clean, and stylish. The stay at Kimpton Rouge has shaken my trust. It is old, tired, musty, and badly managed. "Breakfast" consists of a pale pile of bagels and mini muffins and a big jar of stale, generic cereal. The towels are old and stained. The leather headboard looked like it needed a power-wash (I know, ew). The velvet curtains are old and dusty. The sink looked like it hadn't been cleaned. I stayed 4 nights and had no incident-free days. On the first day, the outlet fell out of the wall when I went to unplug my phone charger. On the second day, my hair clip disappeared from on top of the sink. (I complained to staff, who never got back to me.) On the third day, housekeeping forgot to service my room. When I complained, front desk said housekeeping had left for the day and never even offered to send up fresh towels! On the fourth day, at checkout, I complained about everything and was told a manager would call me to follow up. They never did. If I were Kimpton corporate, I would shut this property down right now to avoid further damage to the brand.

My reservation wasn't available.
This is my first time writing a review. Let's make it short and simple. As the title indicates, my reservation wasn't available even though I booked a month ago. The front desk said all the room is booked, but they have only 1 room available with 2 beds. I originally reserved king bed with a bunk bed for my kids - i have 3 kids) Even though they admit their fault, they didn't offer me any discount downgrading my reservation. The staff said they will send me snacks which supposed to come along with my reservation, but they just ignored it. I requested once again with another staff, but they still didn't bring it to us. My family was so tired walking around DC all day long and my children fell asleep early that night. As soon as we turned off the TV, I and my wife realized that there was too much noise from outside. I thought the window was opened; however, all the windows were closed. I and my wife couldn't sleep that night at all. My family traveling around often and we never have a room like this before. We spent over $250 room and the service like this. Is there any way to get the refund since our room wasn't available?

The hotel was fairly close to the museums, and it really wasn't that bad walking to them. But the hot weather put a stop to that. The continental breakfast would have been 5 stars had it offered a selection of banana or apple, but we're not big breakfast eaters, so it was OK. I appreciated the fact that I didn't have to spend another $40 (at least) for breakfast had we gone out. Staff was super friendly and helpful. On our last day, I was REALLY impressed with how calm and polite the front desk person was with a very difficult customer who was trying to use a credit card without a name on it. And our room was SUPER quiet. With a busy street close by, I thought it would be loud, but I was wrong. If we were to go back to DC, we'd definitely book it here, again.
