Over the years my staff have commented that I always seem to have such wonderful guests. and how do i do this?

I don't know, consider my self fortunate indeed when I hear some stories from high demand guests in other villas. My guests seem more relaxed and happy that they found a comfortable place to sleep because during the day, they're gone exploring, hiking, snorkeling , beaching and boating.

Maybe it's because my prices are low. or we're in the forest, or close to Cruz Bay, close to the North Shore beaches, this Caribbean styled cottage is detached from any other structure, the average temperature is about 75 degrees and the evening a little cooler even, there's no need for ac here.

Moreover the cottages are super strongly built. I was in my apartment (which is like a bunker) and only had the use of one window to see outside. It was in credible to see 240 MPH of wind full of branches, window frames, 2 X 4's flying through the salt water filled air 500 feet above sea level. That speed was sustained for 20 minutes... terrible and scary! After the storm passed i walked outside to see everything flattened... all the trees were down, completely bare of life... no green, but both cottages were standing proud, missing the gutters and down pipes even a huge tree lying on the roof of one, they were unharmed in the face of the strongest hurricane on record. All around me, houses, wood and concrete houses were blown apart or away. So when a hurricane blows over st john again, you now know of one place here that's safe to be in. :)

The location is a very private and fenced-in cul-de-sac on Gift Hill, which is 5-minute drive from Cruz Bay and around a 10-minute drive to the famous North Shore beaches. So conveniently located insofar as shopping, restaurants and entertainment on St John.

The cottage is designed simply to create a Caribbean abode feel although inside is as if you were at home and very comfortable with all modern conveniences and finishes. However outside is finished with bright Caribbean colors and the garden is like a jungle with natural large tropical undergrowth and fruit trees like bananas, passion fruit, Papaya and guava trees and delights with the tropical night sounds with the sounds of crickets, frogs, geckos, Iguana, hermit crabs and scents of the rain forest.

After a day spent exploring the island's treasures (the petroglyphs, the mill ruins, hiking trails, reefs and beaches) and experiencing myriad sun-drenched and water-quenched activities you'll come back to a quiet, cool, and restful home-away-from-home.

The patio on this cottage is large and includes a full kitchen, lounging area, ,breakfast table and chairs and for those that want to relax in the double hammock there's that too.

Inside is a king bed, desk and chair, dresser, futon and good size cabinet, bathroom with shower, hand basin and WC.

The cottage is 500 feet above sea level which is about 9-10 degrees cooler than at sea level. Temperatures range between 83 degrees in the summer months down to 72

degrees in the wintertime. The power cost here is very high and as the weather is cool and the nights even cooler and the cottages very airy so there is no need for air conditioning. The power savings being passed on to their low pricing.

There is also a 2nd cottage for two couple or family scenario. They are great for socializing together and then going back to one’s own abode and not sharing kitchen or living areas gives you privacy and intimacy not available when sharing one house together. They are only 50 feet apart however because of the undergrowth and their design are private from each other.

All linen is supplied including beach towels and for those staying for longer periods there is a laundry with washer and drier.

There is parking at the front gate.

Outdoor smoking is OK. Your pet is welcome, though larger dogs might be intimidated by one very friendly Jack Russell terrier ....

Note: Please understand that St John is 75% National Park that includes the tropical rain forest. The cottages border the forest. This forest has small animals and insects of St John in it. Although the cottages are completely screened for flying insects and mosquito's we can't guarantee that some may get in somehow.

My two teens and I had a fabulous stay! The cottage is incredibly charming, as is the host. The vibe is sort of old Hawaii, writer's studio. The outdoor kitchen was amazing, with all of the comforts one would wish for on vacation. Fantastic central location to get to all sides of the island. I would certainly return. Loved every minute.

We loved the outdoor kitchen and sounds of the jungle at night. The steep road and driveway we're OK in our rental sedan and Trevor gave us good directions. It was a slice of island life.

    An adventure

My family enjoyed this adventure immensely, especially the friendly kitty and the outdoor kitchen. It was a little scary to use the road down to the cottages without 4WD and I would definitely want to get a jeep next time. You will also absolutely need bug spray and bottled water. We had a great time!

    Peaceful Getaway

The property was exactly what we wanted for our vacation experience this year. We weren't looking for the luxury resort amenities/atmosphere, we appreciated the environment of privacy, peace and relaxation. We enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and large porch to sit and play board games at night, amongst the chorus of tree frogs and such. Trevor was extremely accommodating and it was a pleasure to meet him.

Everything needed for a great relaxing stay.

The property was just as described and just what you need after a day exploring wonderful St. John! We stayed for 8 days and nights and were totally at home. The cottage was indeed peaceful even though you are really not that far from neighbors or the other cottage. Enough space for 4 adults (family) to sleep, eat, shower and relax, after all, you mostly come to St John to see the amazing wonders of nature, that’s what we did!! Trevor was right about everything and knows so much about the area. He assured me I would eventually get comfortable with the incredibly steep driveway and I did. The driving on the island is rather intimidating at first, but comfort comes with time. Enjoyed mornings on the porch drinking coffee and watching birds. The temperatures were nice at night for sleeping with ceiling fans and portable fans and gentle island breezes. Come to see the amazing sites of nature and rekindle, relax and rewind in the peaceful cottage!!

absolutely lovely little house with a fabulous host!

Overall this place is wonderful and especially for the price. Trevor is a great host and complete natural when it comes to hosting with lots of experience in guest services, we really enjoyed his company. I was at first worried about staying here in the dead middle of the summer but we were surprised at how cool it was at night with the breeze! He also provides two good, strong, tall rotating fans. I slept like a baby in all the cool breezy and balmy air! the wild life around the house was lovely. wild chickens, roosters, chicks, geckos, iguanas, and huge frogs greeted us during the morning and day or sang to us at night. It was great. some rooster crowing a bit early (bring some earplugs if your sensitive) but it really is charming and all a part of the experience on St John and almost all accommodation( except resorts ) your going to hear chicken and roosters.. Beds were comfy, the room and outdoor kitchen are very spacious with an outdoor couch and hammock to lounge around. I did give the surrounding neighborhood a lower star but only to set an expectation for future guests. the hurricane has still really effected many many places around the island and the locals are having to wait a long time to rebuild and get back to normal. the neighbors are all under construction but we did not hear any noise from this but maybe 1 or 2 days and it was during the hottest time of the day while we only stopped in for a bit. our evenings and mornings were all very peaceful. Oh, the driveway is a bit steep too, but we made it happen with a tiny little Kia Soul no problem. Trevors place really is a great deal and he's truly a lovely guy! id come back in a minute. Nice little house, very helpful owner

The house is small but could accommodate our family of four. Everything is as described, clean and had everything we needed. If something was missing that was really needed, the owner eagerly provided it. Trevor was very helpful providing info on how to get to the island using car ferry, what closest shops are, even advising on boat rental although we didn’t use it. I think people who are looking for luxury resort type of living probably will be disappointed but would definitely recommend this house to people who like to camp and are looking for something one level above.

Peaceful cottage in lush tropical setting

There was so much to love, the bright colors, the outdoor kitchen, the hammock, and spacious room. We felt as if we were Swiss Family Robinson on a tropical island in our treehouse. This place is perfect for nature lovers. There are chickens and other birds I do not know. A wide covered veranda runs alongside the cottage sheltering a full kitchen, a sofa, a small table and a hammock. A friendly cat and dog inside the fenced property. The cottage itself, is a large rectangular room. At one end is a sofa and large desk, at the other is a king-sized bed and the door to the bathroom. Some things are a little tricky, for example, you have to turn two knobs to get the shower flowing. The road leading to the cottage is dirt with some patches of concrete, but you only have to drive about a 100 feet on dirt. From there you have a steep concrete road that leads up the main road. We had rented a four wheel drive Jeep and were glad of it. Trevor is very friendly and full of good advice. Heavy rain fell at night two of the nights were were there and things we hung out to dry were still damp in the morning. Trevor said we could use his dryer to get our towels dry. The island is small that in this central location we were able to get to just about anywhere in 40 minutes or less. We went out to the beaches every day, a different one for each day, and enjoy coming back to the shade and tropical jungle in the late afternoon. At night cheeping frogs sang us to sleep. A fabulous place to recover from the hustle and bustle of life.
