Nice hotel but so crowded it affected my stay
The Mark is a lovely hotel and I may stay again but not in a Courtyard room and perhaps not if its full. I like boutique hotels for their personalized service and relaxing atmosphere. This time there it was not the case. Summer was packed with people, probably because of their "deals" and kids were running around everywhere. I sound like a crank and maybe I am but I prefer quiet and more relaxing vibe. My stay this time was just not very good and the hotel was active to respond to my displeasure over my particular room and certain things not working, so they tried. It just didn't seem like the hotel Gods were on our side. The last year I have traveled a lot around the world and in my travels this is the only hotel where I wished I had not stayed. I contemplated leaving every day. I may try again because they apologized, but like I said, not at the height of summer break. Almost every elevator ride I felt like I was at Disneyland. (Packed with kids and I could barely move.) That's just not my thing. They do have nice amenities in the rooms and the bar and restaurant are very popular so always hopping. Again, I will chalk this stay up to summer wackiness!

Great location for MET fans
Pros: The hotel room is top-notch and the location was convenient for how we wanted to spend time in NYC. We stayed in #517 and the size of the room was very good. It offers turn-down service. Water pressure is very, very strong. Water temperature is not so hot in the morning even at highest setting but in the evening its super hot. Cons: The turn-down service can be improved. Moisturizer can be stocked twice a day regardless of how much is used from the bottle especially because the moisturizer is light and people do freshen up in the evening. If the toiletries are stocked by default than we did not get that service unless requested by phone. The drinks at the bar can be improved in quality. Conclusion: We will have to experience Mark again to be definitive whether we would like to stay here again and again.

Very good 8.0
So I really wish I could give this 5 stars because the hotel staff went above and beyond. Perks: well considered rooms that make you feel at home. Top quality everything. Even noticing their off white carpet in room was a sign of their cleanliness because that is a bold move. With that said - we were sold on the hotel because it was supposed to have the fill Jean Georges menu available in room. While the food was above normal hotel room service - it was pretty disappointing for what they advertised (packaged baked goods, room temp and over seasoned lobster risotto, etc). The only real stand outs were the raw fish dishes. I could go into more specifics about food - but having stayed at many a 5-star hotel and been to Jean George restaurants - it felt gently bait and switch.

Fair 4.0
Disappointing
The Mark is a beautiful property with much potential. Some staff are stellar. Those that are not really do leave the wrong impression. Ice dispenser in room did not work. Took three requests and an hour to get ice. Wine ordered was promised in 10 minutes. Took 25. Breakfast was barely warm and they came to room to get table 30 minutes after it arrived, knocking on a do not disturb marked door. A complaint to front desk yielded a bottle of wine, which was nice, but due to schedule could not drink. Asked to speak to manager. Nothing. I will say they had two large groups and it felt like the hotel was stretched thin to me.

On The Mark!
The surprises at The Mark are as delightful as the colorful bursts of orange in neckties and pocket squares among staff members and in the clusters of roses at the reception and concierge areas. Rooms are efficiently well appointed. A young woman at reception personally took me to my room to see if I'd like it before I checked in. I did, and I especially liked her professionalism. The rickshaw attendant cheerily, generously offered to take me and my friend for a Central Park ride after our brunch; unfortunately, the tire blew, but his courteousness was much appreciated. I loved the Laduree macaron in my room as well as the ample bottles of Evian. Delightful surprises made my weekend stay a great pleasure.
