Profile: Asakusa

Profile: Asakusa

In Asakusa, a district in Taito, charm and history collide. Its classic sensibility blends with impressive modernity, yet the old-school fineries remain intact. Here, you can visit the Sensoji temple and purchase souvenirs and snacks from the centuries-old Nakamise shopping area.

You can shop and dine in this eclectic district, too. The Asahi Beer Tower is a brewery that also houses several renowned eateries. There’s even the playful Hanayashiki Amusement Park, where families can ride a roller coaster or just enjoy some light bites.

This property is at a spectacular location right next to the temples. This was my second trip in two months since it is such a wonderful hotel, especially for the price. If you like large, western style hotel rooms, this might not be for you, but if you want a Japanese hotel experience, this is perfect.

    Traditional but modern

Amazing place in a wonderful area-- so convenient to countless eating/shopping/sightseeing options... Very clean, comfortable & efficient in every respect; had great perks, in addition to the relaxing natural hot spring onsen/sauna!

Exceptionally clean, loved the barefoot concept. All amenities were top quality and new. Attention for detail was also good: Great onsen uniforms, efficient service. Rooms were small, but not uncommon for hotels in Tokyo - enough to keep us comfortable and keep noise out.

Interesting location in the lively Asakusa district. A welcoming atmosphere, genuinely Japanese, not bland international.

    Ryokan in Asakusa.

The Onyado Nono is part of the Dormy Inn chain of hotels. The room was comfy and quiet, and the onsen was great. The only thing that really disappointed us is that we tried to book the breakfast for the next morning when we checked-in (at around 3 pm) and we were told it was already sold out. We found this quite surprising, especially on a weekday, during low season. On the lack of breakfast alone, we will not return to this hotel in the future.
