Great historic hotel close to Fenway Park
We loved being within walking distance of Fenway Park, the Fine Arts museum and other attractions not close to the harbor. However, our room faced the park and on game nights there was a lot of street noice. Room was clean, staff very pleasant. Bathroom very small.

Overpriced, cramped rooms, dated facilities
The location of the hotel was ideal if you are going to a Red Sox game or visiting Boston University. It is steps from those locations, and the surrounding area was very walkable and had a lot of restaurants and shopping options. If, however, you want value for your money or a comfortable room, I do not recommend this hotel. We had a queen bed for two adults, and the room was so small that the door barely missed the corner of the bed every time we opened it. Also, parking was $40 per night in their parking garage. When I called the Hotel to ask where to park, they were a bit cagey with the answer telling me "well, we have a garage next door that's $40 per night (which was approximately half of what the hotel room cost), but there are other options down the street, such as parking meters, but then you'd have to go down every two hours to feed the meter; we don't want to tell you where to park, but those are your options." Um, I wasn't even sure what to do with that, and after realizing I could pay the $40 and park in their "hotel parking" or park somewhere else in the middle of the ballpark area and then schlep my bags 4 blocks, I acquiesced. I would have preferred they build in the cost of parking into the cost of the hotel and not nickle and dime me. That was dishonest and irritating. The gym facilities were also sorely lacking - almost ran out of water; had no towels; had run out of Lysol wipes to wipe off the equipment; and the equipment didn't work properly.

Great stay!
Service was excellent! We arrived early and they help our bags until our room was ready! Room was ready 2 hours early! Comfortable beds! Could see Fenway Park from our bed! The hotel is old but amazing!

At least you’re close to Fenway
Good stuff: great location (walking distance to Fenway), great, helpful staff. Bad stuff: really old rooms that desperately need updating. Big floor air conditioners in each room (which means that attached to a thin screen on window lets through every sound). An amplified street musician played until midnight and ear plugs with a pillow over my head and a loud floor air conditioner couldn’t drown it out. Carpet was old and pull out couch (which required maintenance to open) was very uncomfortable. My back is still sore. Bottom line: spend a few bucks more and stay a block or two further down the road. You’ll still be able to walk to Fenway. If you want to spend less and you can lower your expectations (quite a bit), stay here.

Room was excellent! Very clean, well maintained. Staff extremely friendly and professional. Breakfast the next morning was a disaster. Breakfast chef must have been making one breakfast at a time, waitress was overwhelmed by the amount of people in restaurant. took over an hour and a half and the waitress had to send us with our breakfast because the order was not taken properly and had to be re-made which took forever as well. We were only given one cup of coffee and what ever we ordered first. We were never re-filled or asked if we wanted any more...
