I travel extensively throughout the world and the Hotel Iris is so special! This week was my first time to visit Auvers sur Oise, and as soon as I arrived and checked in at Hotel Iris I felt welcomed and very comfortable. My room was very large, spotlessly clean, and rather luxurious. It was the kind of room I never wanted to leave…very soft linens, plush towels, great lighting, excellent bath accessories. Yet then I stepped out and was completely amazed that it was directly across the street from the RAVOUX INN, which is where Vincent van Gogh lived and died. I was thrilled and amazed! In fact, the Iris Hotel is ideally located in the heart of all the lovey town so you can’t beat it! The staff was so kind, patient, and nice! The hotel even has electric bicycles you can use for free! I am already dreaming about the next time I can return to this fantastic hotel!

Short stay in Auvers sur Oise
We were travelling down to Italy and wanted to break our journey up. Auvers-sur-Oise is 4.5 hours from Calais so for us it makes a good stopover, it's also a lovely quite village that is very famous for it's Vincent Van Gogh connection. We were given room 12 which is in a new extension at the back of the hotel. Very nice room, very comfortable bed, excellent shower and with very cold aircon (it was 35deg when we were there). Staff were very friendly and welcoming, gave us a nice cool elderberry drink and madeleine cake on arrival. I thought that was a nice touch as it's something you don't get from a large hotel chain. Had some trouble with the WiFi but they gave us another network to use. Hotel has a nice little courtyard at the back, no bar and doesn't offer dinner (we ate dinner at Auvers de Vin which was very close and very nice). Very centrally located and free parking was easy to find at the back of the hotel.

If you plan to arrive early and just leave your bag till check-in, avoid gap 12.30-14.30, it will be closed. It was during the low season. Water was running all the time somewhere in the pipes, it was heard in the room, not in the bathroom. Hopefully it was a temporary issue. Guests in the room on the first floor can hear voices and the noise from the ground floor where breakfast and tea for tea saloon is served. If you are a light sleeper, get earplugs. Windows are excellent, not a sound from the Main Street where the hotel is located.
