Amazing birthday experience at the Carlyle!
My husband has always wanted to stay at the Carlyle so as a birthday treat I booked us a night. I received an unusually low rate on hotels.com so I was a little skeptical about the location of the room. I joked that we would be next to the boiler room in the basement LOL! We had just the opposite! The room, large by NYC standards, was on the 21st floor with 2 balconies showcasing breath taking views of Manhattan. The room was beautifully appointed with antique furnishings and a romantic 4 poster bed. The service was beyond! There were balloons, a hand written card and a gorgeous birthday cake (with gold leafing!) delivered to the room. From check in to check out and everything in between was first class. We enjoyed lunch at the restaurant and drinks at Beleman's Bar (one of the best in NYC!) Everything was absolutely perfect. They even have white gloved elevator operators, all so friendly and full of information. This hotel hearkens back to days of yore, top notch service done with ease and no pretentiousness at all! I have been to dozens of hotels in NYC over the years and this by far was the best experience I've ever had. This is now my new favorite, you will not regret staying here.

Elegant home-away-from-home
I travel to NYC often, and this is my home away from home. An "Old New York" glamorous ambiance, but with the freshness that comes from newly renovated modern rooms. My favorite location in New York... surrounded by elegant architecture, great shopping, and steps away from Central Park. Service is friendly, helpful and overall excellent! The restaurant has never disappointed... They did a fabulous job with my daughter's baby shower there this summer, too. My highest recommendation for this hotel.

Superb Anniversary
The Carlyle excels in customer service. Really above and beyond. I mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary (we had spent our wedding night at the Carlyle). They upgraded us to a suite and when we returned from dinner the room was decorated in balloons and rose petals with a bottle of champagne and a nice note from guest relations. Bemelman’s bar also is tops. We plan always on staying at the Carlyle when we visit NYC.

Most Comfortable Stay in New York
The Carlyle has exceptional staff that are friendly and always willing to help. Our room was recently renovated so it’s absolutely beautiful. It is the most comfortable stay we’ve ever had in New York! We loved The Carlyle!

You must stay at this elegant, comfortable hotel
I was slightly hesitant to book this hotel based on mixed reviews but am thrilled that I did. My daughter and I had the best stay at the Carlyle. The remodeled rooms are so elegant and every staff member is so completely kind you feel like you are staying at a relatives home. We had tea in The Gallery which was so pleasant , and also loved beginning some evenings and ending others enjoying live jazz at Bemelmans Bar. New York is a hectic place so after riding in cabs and ubers and doing a lot of walking it is so calming to come back to the Carlyle and relax it the comfort and quiet . The rooms are perfectly climate controlled and you never hear the air clicking on and off ( a big pet peeve of mine at a lot of hotels) We will definitely stay here again soon and really look forward to it!

Charm, history and elegance
The Carlyle reeks of charm and history in a terrific part of the city. We were upgraded to a spacious renovated suite, which was lovely. The Cafe Carlyle music was great. The food served throughout the hotel was very good, though the service sluggish and off - not befitting such an enjoyable place. The front desk and elevator operators were wonderful, maid service inconsistent in provisions and cleanliness.. This older hotel has a few maintenance issues it could better keep up with. All in all, I’d look forward to future stays in my favorite US city.

The Carlyle is the only place to stay in NYC
It's always perfect. We never go to any other hotel,. The hotel staff is wonderful. It's like a second home to us.

Very good 8.0
We visit NYC frequently and enjoy staying on the upper eastside near the park. We usually stay at the Surrey or Lowell and decided to try the Carlyle. The service at the Carlyle is 5 star, but our room was a bit dated and more of a 4 star experience. The hotel design caters to a more conservative guest who enjoys the nastalgia of a classic hotel.
