Check in was relatively smooth, I found staff could have explained the elevator situation a bit better (there’s 3 banks of elevators all leading to certain floors) The beds were clean. We had two beds, and they were comfy. The bathroom was also clean, but very small. Fine for one night but anything longer we would have felt too cramped. The closet wasn’t great, the doors were dirty and the luggage wrack inside wasn’t something I would have been comfortable using. The walls are super thin. If you’re in the hall, you can hear people talking in their room. At night, you can hear people in the street yelling. It was a very loud hotel. Room service isn’t offered between 10 am and 5pm which struck me as strange. I checked in at 1 and would have liked lunch but instead ordered delivery from a local restaurant. Now onto the bad: - After we checked out, we tried to go to one of the restaurants in the hotel and were very rudely informed that they were closed. It was just after 11am, and there were other people sitting inside. - the adults only pool is AMAZING but the biggest issue is getting there!! The elevators go up to 25 or 26, then you have to move to a different elevator to get up to 27 OR you have to walk up some stairs. I walk with a cane and can’t handle stairs so getting there was hard. Our elevator required us to go down to the lobby, walk to other elevators and up to 26, then up to 27. Again, explanation would have made this better. Overall a nice hotel though.

Don't waste your time or money
We arrived, 1 adult and 3 children, on Thursday August 10, 2017 for a 2 night stay to attend the Blue Jays baseball game against the Yankees. We arrived at the hotel at 3:30 after driving from Ohio all day. We were going to freshen up, grab dinner and then head to the game with a start time of 7:05. After standing in a long line that wrapped through the lobby for 2 hours it was finally our turn at registration. When we got up to the desk we were bombarded with people cutting in front of us that were given rooms to only find that the rooms were occupied. The time is now 5:30 and the game started at 7:00. We were then told that it would be another 30 minutes before they could help us. We were starving and need to freshen up to get to the game. After arguing about not having a room for us because the computers were down the less than helpful or polite employee walked away and never returned. We grabbed our bags and left to go check into the Ritz Carlton to be checked in and showed our room within 5 minutes.... These people didn't care about anyone that had already waited for over 2 hours much less offer to take our bags so that we could go eat. I was very disappointed in the lack of concern or helpfulness of any of the employees of the Chelsea. Don't waste your money and pick another place to stay.

Fair 4.0
We decided to give this property a second chance after a stay last year that was riddled with issues. While this stay wasn't awful, it also wasn't great. For the price point, there are some amenities lacking. I was told we were being put in a recently renovated room, but the old brown carpet with gum stuck to it suggested otherwise. The room itself was very small, even smaller than the first room we stayed in. The USB chargers and power outlets on the desk didn't work - just a number of tiny issues... But honestly, what was the most surprising thing to me is Taster's Choice instant coffee in the room. I think, for this price point, actual coffee is expected. Had to request towels again... couldn't get a glass of wine in our room at the end of the day once the kids were asleep... had to wait for a hot shower at the end of our first day because there was no hot water... nothing horrendous, but also not great. Expedia asked me to rate our check in, I did and expressed dissatisfaction with the room and received a "sorry to hear that, we will try to do better" response from the hotel - while I was there! This was a fantastic opportunity for the Chelsea to address concerns and provide fantastic customer service, but we were given a stock response. So, once again, not an awful stay, just not great. The sort of stay expected at like - a motel, not a posh downtown Toronto hotel with this kind of price tag.

Nice hotel in the heart of downtown Toronto
For a quick business trip, this hotel was an ideal choice. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Toronto. Its location and many amenities make dining and transportation easy. I especially appreciated the extremely helpful doormen, the taxi stand, and the in-house cafeteria-style Market Garden. This is the largest hotel in Canada, with nearly 1600 rooms, with a range of room options. Its Chelsea room, which I stayed in, was very basic, but clean and comfortable. Drawbacks included the broken shower, which offered little pressure, and a lot of noise from Gerrard Street and the hotel halls. Also, plugs were inconveniently located for smartphone charging and the sheets were clean but a bit worn. The bathroom was clean but not sparkling, and the hairdryer wasn't attached to the wall, which made it difficult to use. But I found the staff very pleasant and helpful. The hotel seems to push room upgrades, which I declined, as my room was already pricey, which seemed to be due to the fact that the hotel was very busy during the dates I stayed. I'd recommend requesting a room on a higher floor, away from the elevators, and not facing Gerrard Street. For the ease, amenities, and convenience, I'd definitely stay there again, but I'd be a little more assertive next time regarding my room location and state of repair (shower), especially considering how much I paid. The staff is extensive and helpful, so don't be shy to call ahead or during your stay and request what you want.

Good stay, elevators need work
The room was nicely renovated and at first glance modern, upon closer look however you can tell the furnitre was rather outdated with lots of dings and nicks. The bathtub was yellow as well which was not the greatest look. The elevators however were probably the most interesting part of our stay. They were fast once you got in them but you will be stuck waiting for them to arrive. It seems that they are having electrical issues with phantom call button activations and scary incidents of the elevator doors opening and then within three seconds slamming close, it almost caught a women in the door once. Other oddities are the fact their payment system was down when we were checking in, the lady took down my credit card saying when it comes back online they'll process the security deposit but they never did. As well in glancing it looked like the computers for public use were offline from the internet. To be clear the hotel room was fine, we had a fine stay and if we stay in Toronto again the hotel will be on the top of our list of hotels to stay out. That still doesn't detract from us having concerns of the up keep of the hotel and most importantly the safety of the elevators.
