Not bad, but some issues.
The room itself was fine, it was cleanand you could tell it had been cleaned. Front desk service was very friendly. There is ample parking. The room smelled like a perfume store, it was so strong, i had to open the window. I don't know if it was an air freshener, or the cleaner, but it was awful. For someone who is sensitive to fragrance, this was a definite issue. Luckily, by opening the window and turning the fan on high, it cleared it up. Back to the fan, it was not very helpful in regulating the room temperature (yes, we closed the window). It was appear always too warm or too cold, it was never consistent. There was a lot of noise overnight and into the morning, i will request a room away from the elevator next time. The bathroom was tiny. Not an issue for us, but just be warned. The tub did not drain very well after a shower, luckily we were not in a rush, and were able to wait before taking the 2nd shower. Lastly, the breakfast. The food was good, but they didn't refill the items once they ran out. We were there later, but there was still 30 minutes before breakfast ended, so they should have refilled the eggs and sausage.

Code violation
The room door was not secure, it looked like the door was kicked in before. The phone in my room didn't work. The remote was put in this "fresh" bag, making it seem thecremote was sterilized and sanitized, which it wasnt. The remote had fingerprint smudges all over it. They locked the side doors at night from the inside, which is a safety issusue and hazard. I believe also a fire code violation. These doors are considered exits and should not be physically locked with a latch. The card access for these doors looked to be inoperable. So they locked the doors forcing everyone to enter through the front. The main elevator was out of service, leaving everyone to use the only other elevator that worked which was a horrible inconvenience.

Unsafe
I realized our door (313) didn’t lock when it was fully shut. I didn’t realize it until the next morning when I went to leave. The other doors in the hallway had “pry bar” protectors on the door. Ours was ripped off AND the door would not lock no matter how hard I closed it. Very very unsafe

Best Western Plus - WS
Hotel is convenient to Wake Forest University and downtown Winston-Salem. Room was spacious and comfortable. It was in excellent condition. Breakfast was above average as they had a cook who prepared omelets to order. The breakfast area was one of the largest that I have seen. I did not see but one elevator in the hotel. This could be a concern if the hotel was heavily booked.

We checked in a little early and they sent us to our room. The bedding was not clean. It had stains and hair all over it. The side of the bathtub looked like it had pee stain on it and floor wasn't clean either. Called front desk and they said a supervisor would be up. We waited several minutes and no one came. We ended up going back down. We asked for a different room. They would not give us a different room and didnt offer us anything for waiting around. They did apologize but that was it. If our room wasn't ready they should have said so. Also the heater was very loud every time it came on so was hard to sleep.

Won't stay here again
Showed up to hotel after paying on hotels.com and they couldn't find the reservation. That was the first red flag, but the receptionist was pleasant and handled it. Got to the room and the TV and phone didn't work at all, but since it was late at night and I was going straight to bed, I let it go. Sheets were stained but again, I let it go because I was exhausted and was already in my PJ's when I noticed. I had an adjoining room and there was about an inch gap between the door and the floor, so when my neighbor turned on the light in their room the next morning, the light came under the door and actually lit up my room as well. Also I could clearly hear their alarm clock due to the gap. That was unpleasant. I also couldn't even walk around the room without shoes on because the floor was so dirty I ended up with stuff sticking to the bottom of my feet. Then I couldn't even bring myself to use the shower due to all the hair and nastiness in there. It was obvious it hadn't been cleaned. Absolutely disgusted with the stay, especially given that the room was close to $200 for the night. Highly recommend you stay away from this one.
