Clean, safe and a good location
Despite the health scare that Canada and the world is currently experiencing, I had to be in Toronto for important meetings and chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Downtown because of close proximity to my meeting venues, thus avoiding public transportation. I had never stayed there before, but I was pleased with the condition of the hotel, particularly the cleanliness. I would recommend it to others.

More motel than hotel
The Good: Great central location, close to everything. Nice accommodating staff that try their best. The Bad: Very hard and uncomfortable bed. Water conservation gone insane, shower and faucet pump a trickle of water with mediocre pressure. Forget about having a nice shower or shave in this place. Very small room even though I paid more for the "executive king". Room in need of upgrading, especially to windows that leak a lot of air. Overall, bypass this hotel. If you want to stay in this area, pay a little more and stay at the Courtyard across the street, it's better. If you want this level of service, pay less and stay 2 blocks east at the Econologe, or for even less, a few more blocks east at the Super 8.

The hotel was amazing. Clean, comfy, nice staff. We also loved that you couldn’t get to the rooms via the elevator unless you had a room key. Makes you feels safe. Only complaint would be waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of what I can only assume was a hired escort screaming at the top of her lungs that the male trying to leave still needed to pay her for the “services” she provided. It was more vulgar then that but we’ll keep this clean. I understand it’s not the hotel’s fault, but it was a little disturbing to say the least to be woken up by that.

Always a comfortable stay.
One of our favorite places to stay in Toronto: very clean and the staff is wonderful!

Poor 2.0
Bad hotel stay far away
So many issues with this property: 1) Air conditioning blasting in February as heat valves were closed/broken. Took technician forever to get to the room as the front desk wouldn't pick up their phone. Put the call on speakerphone for ten minutes and someone finally picked up the phone. 2) Housekeeping didn't deliver blankets as we requested two times. 3) Toilet lid was filthy with dried and crusted urine/waste. Housekeeping did come to clean it but late at night. 4) Concierge was useless sending us to an incorrect bus stop for the Toronto hop on/hop off tour. We waited in the -12C cold for 35minutes before calling the tour company who told us the hotel gave us the wrong information. 5) Was given used and unwashed cutlery in the restaurant. 6) On check out we told the manager, Carlton, all of our issues, and all he did was credit us $36 for our food charges. He didn't give one care whatsoever and to prove it didn't even ask for the name the concierge who gave us the wrong details for the hop on bus tour. This is a very poorly run hotel and I have made hotels.com aware of it. Would not recommend.
