Grand Traverse Resort is a great place to stay if you’re visiting the Traverse City area for golf. The location is very convenient—about 20 minutes from downtown Traverse City and roughly 30 minutes from the wineries. The resort itself is a little outdated, but the rooms are very spacious. Unfortunately, our room had a noticeable musty smell, especially the pillows, which took away from the overall comfort. The bathroom was also surprisingly small—really only comfortable for one person at a time—and the shower had very low water pressure. Considering how large the room is, there seems to be a lot of wasted space. I would much rather have had a larger, more comfortable bathroom than so much unused space in the bedroom area. Overall, it’s a good choice for a golf getaway because of the location, amenities, and large rooms. However, the guest rooms and bathrooms could definitely use some updating and attention. While we enjoyed the golf and the convenient location, next time I’ll probably try another hotel or an Airbnb for a little more comfort.
