Good location but not a 4.5 star caliber hotel
Overall, this hotel doesn't measure up to the 4.5 star rating when compared to other hotels in the same class. Pros: 1. The location of this hotel is its biggest positive attribute. Very close and walking distance to Robson St., Gasstown, and the harbor. 2. The staff provided complementary bottles of water. 3. Pillows. Good pillow selection. Cons: 1. They ignored my note from my booking which requested that the sofa bed be made and ready. Our flight was late at night and I wanted all the beds ready. The sofa bed was not made and the hoysekeeping staff were not available after 10pm to help. 2. The phone in the room didn't work properly and would not ring housekeeping or room service lines. It sometimes would ring the front desk but it would go without answer because front desk was too busy. Very inconvenient and I expected more from a 4.5 star hotel. 3. The safe didn't work. The positive is that the staff quickly got someone to fix it. 4. The restaurant. This is an Indian restaurant and I strongly dislike this cuisine.

Lovely boutique hotel in excellent location
We loved this boutique hotel. My husband was on a business trip and my teenage son and I tagged along for the week-end. The staff (front desk, maids, valets) was consistently professional and friendly. Le Soleil fits the Goldilocks principal of being "just right" -- not a large, impersonal commercial chain and not a stuffy bed and breakfast, where you lack privacy or hear your neighbors and crave a bit of anonymity. The location was excellent and within walking distance of shopping (e.g. Robson St.) and restaurants. Our suite was tasteful and had a French vibe. Our son slept in the sitting area (with his own TV) on the fold-out couch (2 pillows were in the closet), while we got the bedroom with the pocket door. A middle connecting section had a coffee maker, hot tea pot, lots of glasses, a fridge, and a good selection of wine, spirits, and snacks for purchase (even a "love kit" with condom and lube!). The closet had two spa robes. There's a very nice bathroom with a walk-in shower (including a corner seat, which some people might like or need) and quality Aveda toiletries. We appreciated the convenience of eating breakfast once at the restaurant connected to the lobby called The Copper Chimney, which was good (and normally serves Indian food for lunch and dinner but has the standard fare at breakfast). Everything was clean and attractive, and although I wish the bed had been firmer, it wasn't a deal-breaker. I'd definitely come back to this hotel on a future visit.

Exceptional
Staff was very accommodating and pleasant! The location was near everything but not in a noisy part of town. The city is very walkable so you are near enough to everything. But if you want to cover some ground the hotel offers free bikes on a first come basis. They have 6 available and it is really a nice touch. We got 3 bikes the 2nd day we were there and had a blast exploring Gastown, yaleville, and the sea wall. The room was very nice but a little on the small side for 4 people. We got a king suite and it was almost perfect. This is a European style hotel so the rooms will run a little small, but I would go back in a heartbeat.

Staff is the best part of this hotel.
Our room was comfortable and the staff works very hard to be courteous and helpful. The bellmen/staff were very obliging with advice, transporting our bags and showing us the room, and made sure we had taxis very quickly. They were also engaging. We appreciated the safe in the room and the extra sitting area. Everyone was so very friendly. We also appreciated the location. Our one caveat was the continental breakfast included with the room. Yikes! The servers were lovely but the food! Our coffee was essentially brown water and when we asked for better coffee, we were offered Americanos and told that we would have pay extra for a second cup which was fine with us. The fruit was nice but our croissants were the refrigerator type--flat, doughy, and raw inside. We ended up purchasing breakfast items when we just should have gone elsewhere. We think the oatmeal was instant, the sourdough toast was a supermarket white-bread type, and the eggs tasted like a substitute egg might. The potatoes were laying in a puddle of grease. It is a shame as these breakfasts impacted our overall feeling about the hotel.

Good location for easy Cruise Terminal Access
Our recent stay at the Executive Hotel Le Soleil was quite good. The rooms were very spacious with a separate sitting area & two televisions. Beds were comfortable, there was a pod style coffee machine and concierge staff were friendly. We specifically chose the hotel because of its close proximity to the cruise terminal, and it was certainly an easy walk, however this also meant that the hotel was located in the central business area - very few restaurants or cafes open late on Saturday or Sunday morning. The only real disappointment was that when we checked in, we were advised that although we had booked and paid in full for two rooms more that 6 months ago, the hotel could not provide two rooms on even the same floor! Our children were on floor 11 and we were on floor 12 - extremely inconvenient. We were advised that because the hotel was a small boutique hotel and fully booked, they could not accommodate our request. I do not believe that when we initially checked in they realised we had booked two rooms and simply made a mistake. I would have appreciated an honest explanation rather that to be treated like a fool. Our rooms should have been allocated when we booked and paid for them months ago.
