Great location, service and felt utterly pampered.

Lovely location and breath taking views. Staff were really friendly and attentive, food lovely and loved having a quick bite to eat in the library watching the world go by or sitting outside on the terrace watching the sun go down.

    Not Impressed

It was generally just okay. The best thing about the hotel was the location and the lake view, other than that my room (20) was VERY noisy with guests coming in and out of the main door on the first floor and banging the doors each time. As a result I got very little sleep on the 2 nights and left feeling more tired than I was when I checked in! The hotel should either invest in soft closing doors or remove the doors altogether. The bathroom/toilet was also very cramped - there was hardly any space to sit on the toilet with the wall in the way and I had to sit sideways to use the toilet, which is just ridiculous for a so called 4 star luxury hotel at almost £400/night- All in all I'm certain there are other hotels offering better value for money than what I experienced at the Belsfield.

  • 4.0.Fair

Needless level of bad customer service.

Having arrived around 15.30 my daughter was rather abruptly told that there were no tables available in the restaurant for cream teas (which was highlighted as closing at 17.30). When we checked visually and around 5 of the 40ish tables were taken. I phoned reception and was told I could have “room service”. As I had no intention of sitting in my room at 3.30 in the afternoon I escalated my complaint and was offered a table immediately. After a needless level of poor customer service the cream tea and restaurant service were excellent. All I would say is get your act together as next year when people have the choice to go abroad again you will be begging people to eat in your restaurant.

    This place is impressive

This hotel exceeded expectations on every level. They actually manage to have a thriving wedding business without impacting on non wedding guests. Rare and much appreciated. Very good staff/guest ratio & high calibre staff. Will definitely come again.

    Disappointed stay

For the amount we paifld compared to other similar priced hotels we were very disappointed with our stay. The venue while online looks amazing, in reality looks tired on the inside. The bedrooms and halls in particular could use some love. The staff while polite are not empowered it seems - when we asked if we could eat lunch there as just arrived after long drive and staying that evening they were unsure and said needed to check with manager. The manager then said they could only offer us a reduced menu. Food was decent though. We would not recommend staying here for the price.

Great staff, but felt the hotel was over priced

The hotel didn’t live up to our expectations. We felt given the standard of accommodation (I had paid extra for an upgrade) was not good value for money. Our room was tiny and the bed small. The hotel internally lacks ambiance. The dinner menu is uninspiring. On the positive side, the views are stunning, gardens beautiful and the staff are excellent and very accommodating. Breakfast was great, good amount of choice and very well cooked. All the staff we dealt with were obviously very well trained and offered great service.
