Quite expensive last minute stay.
Returning customers,no mention of the LHW membership or the multiple stay at the Okura Amsterdam. No welcome back, nothing. It was our anniversary, nothing was made special for this occasion. Just another guess. a number. Plus, kindness and politeness of the front desk staff. We had booked 2 consecutive nights but separately, they were kind enough to accomodate us to stay in the same suite, but caused the staff to be confused when it came to clean or refurbish the room. Suite are becoming dated, old 90’s system to open the blinds, turn the lights on, clogged sink, sun facing windows = not A/C thus extremely hot rooms. difficulty getting basic amenities (read requested strong caffeinated Nespresso capsule, got decaf every time). Side note, Food is always quite good, for an hotel. Very oblidging when it came to extra, except for the pillow menu. Business lounge was deserted and empty. Nice view from the business lounge, but rather bland. I had fond memories of that place, but it’s not as great as it used to be, it shows it’s age.. Not worth CAD $600/ night at all. Will I stay there aga, unsure. We stayed at the NH in Mannheim and they pointed out we had been to another NH hotel before. And welcomed us back. This is a small gesture that speaks volume.

Overpriced, unfriendly staff, no character
Really disappointed with our stay here. Considering it's rated 5 star, it fell very short from the mark and we wish we had spent the money on a hotel closer to the centre instead. Upon arrival, the hotel staff were unfriendly, barely noticed we had arrived and we had to wait ages as there was only one person on the check in desk. Considering this hotel has hundreds of rooms, this seemed ridiculous. Once we finally got to check in, the room wasn't ready and they had no idea when it would be ready, made us pay an extortionate €200 per night deposit ahead of our stay, and then we had to queue to put our luggage away which was an unnecessary faff. When we eventually got to check in for our room, we weren't told anything about the hotel or where anything was, we were just given our key by an uninterested member of staff who didn't even ask how we were, what we had planned for our stay etc. Room was average, the coffee machine was broken, towels were thin old and tatty, dust on plug sockets, cheap nasty toiletries, €5 for a bottle of water - not worth the money at all! Overall, a hugely disappointing stay with rude, unfriendly staff who didn't care about us at all. The room was outdated, boring and had a weird granny blind that covered the glass wall in the bathroom. We spent as much time away from the hotel as possible to avoid the cream walls, dark brown furniture and lack of any interest. Roof top bar was squashed and overpriced - only good thing was the pool.

Beautiful hotel and attentive staff
Extremely attentive staff, all very polite. Hotel lobby was beautiful, room was large and spacious. Not sure about the glass wall to the bathroom but thankfully there is a blind to pull down. Water was a little steep at 10 euros a tiny bottle when you can purchase the same across the road for 1.. lesson learned from me when I return. A bit away from the hussle and bussle and although you can get an Uber probably more cost effective to stay more central and walk to everywhere. Would be nice for a romantic weekend away and the roof top bar was a nice extra

Excellent hotel
Overall a very good hotel to stay in. It's abit out of Centre (Dam Square) but can get there by tram and it doesn't take very long. It's close to the Museums. Hotel is pretty big and swimming pool etc are pretty good. I would recommend this hotel and if I visit Amsterdam again, I will stay here again. Only thing was that when housekeeping doing turn down service, they don't top up anything. They just take the blanket and put hotel information on my bed again, which I had to move it onto the floor again. No chocolate left on the bed unfortunately. hehe... Another weird thing is that this hotel doesn't offer green tea as standard. You have to ask for it and only if they understand what you're saying. This is a Japanese hotel and it doesn't offer green tea as standard?! First attempt was great, I got my green tea within minutes. Second attempt, the girl just couldn't understand me and it took forever that we had to ring housekeeping again. But he didn't bring any green tea, so I gave up instead. Yes I drank alot of green tea because European's water taste funny to me. Apart from that, everything else was great.
