Whirlwind tour of Iceland to see Ed Sheehan!
Great location. Staff was very courteous. Excellent buffet breakfast.

Poor 2.0
Terrible Stay.
What you see in the pictures is not what you really get. We got one room in the updated section one in the old section. Dirty old rooms, mildew in shower old showers not like shown in pictures. Old mattress, not the tv shown in pictures, panels in ceilings falling, carpet in corridors ripped. Overall terrible experience, be careful.

Don't Stay If You Need A/C
First stay on Aug 1 was a big problem. With no A/C and unusual high temp there, room was 100 degrees at check in with large windows uncovered and only a very small top window to open. Asked for another room and refused. Given two small fans and had to leave for hours, returning late at night. No breakfast offered or happy hour as others received at our same hotel rate. Second stay on 8/7 was better. Room still on hot side of hotel but arrived later, opened window and closed curtains immediately. Saevar, at desk, WAS EXCEPTIONAL, TOOK CARE OF ALL.OUR NEEDS, booked bus to airport, printed boarding passes, granted late checkout. Still no included breakfast or happy hour as being offered to all check in guests we noticed for the 45 minutes we sat in the lobby waiting for our pickup to the airport on 8/8.

Good in so many ways but not quite perfect
This hotel is about 5 minutes drive from downtown Reykjavik or around 15-20 minutes on foot. It is also very close to the city airport (not the international one). You can park there without charge which is worth having if you are driving. I was in a refurbished junior suite. The room was of a reasonable standard, a bit sparsely furnished but had everything I needed with the exception of hair conditioner which is not provided. On my arrival, I was able to check in around 10:30am which I was very pleased about. I was less pleased about the large number of dead flies on the window ledges. These were swiftly removed by a staff member when I rang down to complain. The only issue I had with this room was its proximity to the lift and the noise at all hours. Apparently there is one suite on each floor and they are all in the same position. I was offered the Presidential Suite at the other side of the building, but this was in 1970s decor and quite shabby. I decided to stay put and use earplugs. Breakfast was included. There was a good selection and plenty for vegans like me. All in all, I would recommend this hotel. The upsides outweigh the few issues and it is a good base to explore Reykjavik and the rest of Iceland from.

Good 6.0
The Hotel was run-down, when we arrived it looked vacant and unkept. However the room appeared to be updated and was clean. Food and Beverages were very expensive i.e. Breakfast buffet $25 and was not very good. Hamburger & Fries $38.00 Drinks started at $17.00 I would not recommend this hotel or going to Iceland... Save your money and go to Norway!
