Profile: Downtown Memphis

Profile: Downtown Memphis

Downtown Memphis is the city’s commercial and cultural heart, set around an urban landscape of modern, multi-story towers and historic brick buildings. Much of its energy emanates from Beale Street – a neon-drenched stretch of bars, clubs, and live music venues. It’s here you’ll find the legendary Sun Studio, where Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash recorded some of their biggest hits.

Nearby you’ll find the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum, which details the city’s musical heritage, as well as the National Civil Rights Museum, the Orpheum Theatre, and AutoZone Park – a mecca for baseball fans.

    Great hotel and location

Great hotel and location! Rendevous is right around the corner, the peabody hotel with the ducks is right across the street, and beale street is in walking distance; the one issue was the valet was a little overwhelmed at times and actually ran out of room on Sat. night, so we parked in the lot next the hotel (easy and cheaper than the valet at the hotel) and the hotel took our valet fee off. So all in all, great place to stay if looking for a nice place in Memphis.

Save time and money stay a the Peabody.

Toilet paper sitting on floor. Holder off wall, card took 2 try’s to work on elevator. After returning to hotel took 40 minutes to turn in to valet parking, only to be told it was full, and we should try public parking 3 blocks away. It was 9 pm by then and we stopped a bar for a drink only to be told bar closed at 9 ! On a Saturday night. Went to Peabody instead. Next morning after not sleeping all night because of street noise just below and barking dog next door. Went to restaurant for breakfast, again closed so we went back to Peabody. Luggage cart not around for check out. Don’t stay here. Go to Peabody instead They understand service.

    Great place to stay!

Checking in was simple and the service reps at the front desk were very friendly. The room was amazing and clean. The valet parking was a life saver and being able to request the car when we were ready was very convenient. The only negative thing I can say about my stay is that the cleaning ladies were EXTREMELY loud in the morning and the language they were using was not appropriate.

We had a great time. Everyone was so friendly. It did take us a while to get any service or recognition when sitting at the bar.

    Not quite there yet

Had to change rooms, as first room shower did not work which would have been nice, since I tried to shower before a dinner. Changed later that evening, and other room was fine. Also, do not say you have food. Nothing there for breakfast except banana or apple???
