Great for Families
Overall this is a good resort property. I would recommend it for families as there is an amazing water park for children. The other pool areas are impressive as well. The buffet food was decent but got a little tiring after 5-7 days. They usually had Italian and Mexican themes and sometimes changed it up and offered Asian or BBQ. There are 2 a la carte restaurants that require advance reservations. One is fine dining and the other is fish/seafood at a beautiful restaurant built along the shoreline. Two of us are vegetarian and we found that the choices were somewhat limited but we never went hungry. The beach does not have good sand, it's more like clay. The waves are fairly tame making them suitable for children to play in. Sailing and kayaking are offered free of charge. Our room was comfortable and clean with a king bed and chaise lounger and a decent size balcony with a beautiful view. There is no coffee maker or mini fridge. Room service is offered for an extra charge. There are 3 towers. Tower 3 backs onto the convention centre which can be extremely noisy when they have outdoor events and parties. There a number of activities offered each day - zumba, pilates (no yoga), a bike tour through the ecological reserve, archery and aquasize to name a few. Wonderful staff! The Azul is not right in Ixtapa. It's a little further north near Playa Linda and Ixtapa Island. To get to the shopping areas you will need to take the local bus (16 pesos) or a taxi.

Property was beautiful. It had a wonderful view of the ocean and Ixtapa island. We upgraded to a room with a balcony. Staff were very helpful with this. The hotel is certainly family friendly which made it rather noisy at times. They had the same band playing every night. They could have turned down the volume a notch or two. The food in the buffets was ok. After two weeks it all tasted the same. Our meals at the ala carte restaurants were not great. We chose to eat out in Ixtapa for the second week of our stay. Overall we did enjoy our stay. Next time we will probably choose a resort closer to hotel row. Will save money on the cab rides into town.

You can find a better all inclusive for you money
We live in mexico and we go every few months to an all inclusive hotels all over the country. This one is by far the lowest rated of all. and I will share the reasons why: 1. Food standard is very low. all resturants are with the same food during the morning with no vegis, only one plate of chese offered and very low capacity of ages chefs. At night you have few resturants that are good but nothing more. the wine of the house is low quality and there is no option to buy wine. 2. Rooms - All mattresses are with springs, very low quality and make the night sleep very bad. All of the cushions are also low quality and even that we asked to get new once it was impossible. No drinks or other things in the mini bar like they do in other all inclusive. 3. Kids Club - we have 3 kids and when we go to Iberostar or Hyatt Los cabos, they want to stay more... here they didn't want to go and stay. The kids club work with no interesting activities for the kids, they do a some activities that they ask money for... like a 100 pesos for cocking activitity. the team also was without the proper enegry I think. 4. THIS IS THE ONLY ALL INCLUSIVE THAT ASKS 150 PESOS A DAY FOR INTERNET IN YOUR ROOM.. AND NOT ONLY - FOR ONLY ONE DEVICE !!!! never seen somthing like this before. Over all not a place to take your family in you want a good all inclusive hotel

I wouldn't go again
I've never stayed on the pacific side of Mexico before, and I don't think I will again. Our stay was okay. We tend to go on a number of excursions, and I found the staff was not helpful in trying to get contact information, or details about trips. Also, when asking about different areas of the hotel, many concierge members didn't have the answers, nor did they bother finding them out for us. The cleaning and restaurant staff were predominantly friendly and helpful, but the reception staff was frustrating to deal with. My phone was stolen at the beginning of our trip and when I inquired about reporting it, or if there was a lost and found, they were dismissive. I moved my query to the concierge desk and they were equally as unconcerned or helpful. There was no support or concern for something that was a rather important item to have been stolen. It is a beautiful area, and there was a fair amount to do to keep the people in our group entertained. We had a night at the Oyster Bar a la carte - the waves crashed over the railing, soaking my daughter and I (and our dinners), and no one came to help. We had to request new meals and beverages. Basics: The pool area is well maintained. The food gets boring pretty quickly - it is the same in all the buffets every day The staff is not supportive, and certainly not proactive The beach is great for short bursts as there is no shade provided The beds are adequate, but not good The lobby bar doesn't open until 4 - even for pop/tea
