Very good 8.0
The Good: The property was beautiful and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The beach was breathtaking and the pool was sparkling clean. Some of the food was excellent, most of it was good to adequate and some not good at all. There was also a nice range of included drinks. Overall our stay was perfectly lovely. The Bad: We were invited to a “welcome breakfast” which turned out to be a 2.5 hour pitch to join their vacation club for $10k. BEWARE OF THE WELCOME BREAKFAST. One evening they allow outside vendors to sell their souvenirs. The salesmen are very pushy, and drive very inflated prices for their goods. This was an unpleasant aspect of our stay. They don’t allow straws anywhere except one bar and you have to ask. If you want straws I recommend bringing your own. Better yet, bring your own thermal cup with a reusable straw for drinks. They will fill your cup with whatever you order. Bring a big cup. Bottom Line: If you take care to avoid the unpleasant situations I mentioned your stay will be amazing. The resort is a very good value even if you only partake of the amenities that are included. The entertainment is on par with other all inclusive resorts, maybe even a tad better. We spent an additional $200 on our stay which included a couples massage, bottle of wine and souvenirs. We also took a speed boat tour from an off resort vendor for $75. It was a fun time though not exceptional. Hope this helps!

Exceptional 10.0
Incredible staff
My wife and I, our 9 yr son, 16 yr dtr and her 14 yr friend stayed in 2 rooms. First impressions are everything and the bell captain, Pablo was amazing, both at check-in and check-out. He had our bags delivered on time and even had a taxi ready 10 min early for our departure. Very personal, friendly, and welcoming. Emanuel greeted us during our introduction to the Preferred Club (well worth the extra expense, general areas for swimming, dining, towels, and having a drink are great, but nice to have separate area for quieter, quicker service whenever you want). The bar staff including Yohan, Augustos, Adrian, Irwin and Eudy at the pool bar as well as Elvis at the lobby bar were great. All were very friendly and efficient. The Preferred beach waiters, Juan and Juan Carlos were equally nice, quick and professional. Regarding dining, special mention is warranted by waiter Domingo and sommelier Manuel. Both are very knowledgeable and accommodating. Alex waited on us for our romantic beach dinner and was also fantastic. Food overall was good and much better than other all-inclusives. Entertainment staff were awesome including Jose, Benjamin and the very energetic and enthusiastic Ergie. Finally, at checkout, Karina was extremely helpful and professional. We were all sad to leave. Clearly the management team is doing an excellent job. General manager Valter Espinoza was visible daily. We met him before at a previous stay at Paraiso de la Bonita in Mexico.

Good 6.0
We just stayed there for 8 days and 7 nights. The staff is really great. I never came across anyone that wasn't helpful. This resort is listed as a family resort, however I would recommend taking smaller children somewhere that has a water park and more for kids. Teens have a club to go to in the evening.... We did not check it out. Do not get suckered into the "special breakfast" unless you already know you are going to buy into a vacation club. At check in: the clerk tried to upsell us to a different room. The clerk turned us over to a lady who tried to convince us to meet with vacation club salesmen in order to get our already included $200 worth of hotel vouchers. Pushy local salesmen on the beach, we didn't enjoy the beach because

I've definitely had better
Service was good at check in, trying to convince us to upgrade to Preferred Guest, but then it seemed to stop there after we decided not to. Room was uncomfortable mainly because of the lack of sufficient air and house keeping never came to clean. We contacted the front desk to get an extra towel and never received it. Towards the end of the second day our room was changed and we did have our beds made, but still not enough towels for 2. We found a cart in the hallway and grabbed a couple. This room was 2 degrees cooler than the last and noisier because of the band that plays at night in front of the rooms. The food was not good whatsoever and the drinks were watered down. The best food was at the Japanese restaurant. The spa was great and service there was good. Pools close at 7pm every evening which was sad. Excursions were good, especially the yacht party!

Explaining what happened in our particular situation would make this review over two pages long. In short, stay away from the VIP Vacation reps. The one exception in this area was Luis Valdez, he was amazing. The resort needs to change it's policies in regards to how and where they have these people. If you pay extra for Preferred Club you shouldn't have to deal with this kind of thing or have difficulty at check out. Bottom line if you are going for a stay under 5-7 days they shouldn't even be allowed to push these packages. They have no regard for your time and these people are not worried about what you paid for. We asked our representative how to use the resort credit and he said not to worry because everything would be applied at check out and that he would be there to make sure that it was. That wasn't the case and we ended up spending more money on a couples massage that would have been cheaper if we did two single massages with the resort credit. He wasn't even there when we checked out. Preferred and our check out took over an hour arguing about how information is delivered and nothing was rectified. (Longer review on Facebook & trip advisor) Aside from this the staff itself is amazing. Very accommodating. Everyone was friendly, especially Victor doing security on the Preferred beach. The staff works really hard and it's a shame the check in and check out in this area cause so many issues.
