They forgot to give us an accessible room, next to the elevator, with a view if possible. It was written on the reservation and i spoke to them about it when I booked. The doors were so “strong” (to our room and to the bathroom downstairs) that they either slammed on us or were too hard to keep open to go through with any type of ease. My 94-year-old mother-in-law has a walker and I’m temporarily in a wheelchair. Room 274 was quite a distance from the elevator. I did call a few days/week beforehand to double check and make sure that things would run smoothly, and at that time I was told that they didn’t see my request for an accessible room and that none were available. Also was told that a shower chair might not be available, so I brought one from home. MIL can’t shower without one. Luckily I was driven up there, rather than flew. Turns out I did not need the parking (which I had paid three nights for) because I’m not allowed to drive right now, but was told it was non-refundable (@$180).
That sucked, as did the $22 ($27?) extra daily amenity fee we were charged upon checkout. The breakfast was very crowded every day and ran out of some food by 8:45. I guess some people took extras.!!?! I stay at plenty of Holiday Inns, and I have not experienced a buffet with that kind of feeding frenzy vibe before. The bed was comfortable, the place was clean. Location was superb, especially if I could’ve walked anywhere.
