Lovely hotel
We enjoyed at stay at this hotel. It was a really lovely hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable, very welcome after a long plane flight. We had a nice dinner and breakfast in the restaurant

Very Good8.0
Dated but comfortable.
Good location to where we were going. The room was a little dated but still clean. We had to hunt down the Hair dryer, it was in the closet. The room we were in had some really loud noises in the walls from pipes or something anything you used the water. The staff and valet parking were very nice we even used the shuttle.

A+ Customer Service and Convient Location
As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by Mr. Montoya with enthusiasm and warmth. He suggested great dinner options around the area, and was able to gladly accommodate our requests. He answered all of our questions and checked in to make sure everything was well. The valet staff was also timely and respectful. The hotel is conveniently located, clean, and comfortable. We had zero complaints and have agreed that The Whitehall will be our Downtown Houston stay from now on.

Don’t Bother
Our first experience was the valet, who stood there and watched us as we opened the trunk of our car and started pulling out our luggage. He didn’t lift a finger to help. We later sat at the bar in the restaurant - where there was one other customer - and it took several minutes for the bartender to stop chopping whatever he was chopping to notice us, The manager walked through several times and never acknowledged us. We live in Panama and have become used to “Latin” construction where painting is lackluster and sometimes dripped in places it shouldn’t and how wall coverings may not be “perfect” but I would never expect that in the US. This place must have outsourced it’s construction needs to Panama. Every corner of the bathroom shows very poor work. The shower would drop to almost a drip for pressure every couple of minutes and was extremely annoying. There was one gentleman at the front desk who had AMAZING customer service. He remembered my name every time and was super friendly - but unfortunately, one man does not carry the entire hotel. There was definitely not a major overhaul from its Crowne Plaza days (in fact, I think that the pool furniture might be the same from so long ago!). I would say that there are so many more hotels in Houston that I would recommend passing on this one.

The location is pretty good. We were able to park the car on arrival and walk every where we wanted to go during our stay. We were only there 2 nights and ended up having to change rooms each night cause the A/C wasn’t working well. We checked in a little after noon on Friday and turned the air on in our room. I woke up from a nap around 4pm sweating from it being so warm in room. We turned off all lights and closed blinds when we left for Astros/Red Sox game at 5pm yet when we arrived back at the room at close to midnight the temperature of the room had not dropped any from when we left. So they gave us a new room. The next one wasn’t any better but in order to give it a chance to cool down we slept in it that night. Close to midnight again on Saturday night we decided to call down again and yet again they moved us. The third room was the best of ones we stayed in but still the hallways and lobby felt way cooler than any room we were in. We even called down to see if they had fans or anything which they did not. An alarm was going off on our floor this night that had guest in the halls. The staff was amazing though. They were very helpful. They didn’t act like it was a hassle or we were bothering them. And because of that it really made me want to give each room a chance and not make them think I was just trying to get something from them. Compared to other hotels near by I think the price was a little lower here but probably less chance of these issues somewhere else.
