    Marriott Excellence

    Bed a bit hard but that’s a personal choice . Annoying thing is the safe door which is wide open against the bed if you are not using it and you bash your knee on it in the dark . Breakfast is £11 per person if you pay it beforehand and a good choice of food . Parking in the Mailbox shopping centre which is close by. £17.80 for 24 hrs with the discount given from the hotel. Get them to stamp your ticket before you leave . Overall it was excellent

    Good...but not the best ...spoilt by parking and n

    Hotel is well located for central Birmingham. Initial impression of the hotel was poor..as we arrivied by car..and there is no roadside car entrance. Also the nearby mailbox carpark has lots of oneway systems to get to it from the hotel...i would suggest this is explained in the description. Booking in was good and staff excellent. Room (disabledroom) was a decent size, clean and reasonably appointed. Bathroom/Wetroom seemed to be retro fitted as a disabled room...chrome shelving was poor quality and tired...sink very small and poor quality...shower good...but flooded the whole bathroom when used...needed a better drain or low wheelchair accessible lip. The room suffered due to noise from outside...we were on the third floor...and it seemed as if the window was open by the noise level.

    The rudest and most intolerant hotel staff ever

    Before our stay I wrote on the special requests part that I wish for interconnected rooms. When we arrived they told us they are giving us the interconnected rooms as it was my partners birthday. At first the staff seemed nice but when we got to the rooms they were not interconnected. I tried calling them but no one answered so we all had to come back downstairs. One of the staff members said he is sorry for this situation and offered for all of us complementary breakfast. Now the best part starts… in the morning we come downstairs and they are telling us to pay for the breakfast. I explained to the manager of the hotel whose name is Zhane the situation but she started giving me attitude, talking sarcastically and even making a joke ‘if you can afford to eat somewhere else then please go, why to ask for complimentary breakfast ‘ that’s the rudest behavior ever! I am never coming back to this hotel, it ruined my partners birthday, it ruined all of our moods. The way she talked seemed liked she was trying to mimic me and put me in the stereotype of ‘gay person complaining’ didn’t think I would receive this kind of behavior from Marriott group. I even asked her to stop giving me attitude as I am trying to explain to her the situation but she just didn’t care. At the end I saw the guy who told us about the complementary breakfast and she didn’t even bother to ask him she just sarcastically smiled at me and said I will speak with him later. Avoid!!

    Uncomfortable but clean

    The staff were really friendly on arrival, got booked in and was passed access cards to room 409. Entered the lift and felt like we were going to fall through the elevator, needs some maintenance. Arrived in the room and was really clean. Showed we were going to have free complimentary bottled water. There was no sign of the free bottled water, also had an expresso machine in the room but no capsules on day one, these were topped up on day two. I am not sure how they test the comfort of the bed. This one though was creaking on every movement, you could feel the springs also, for the price we paid for the room, we have had better beds in the travel lodge. Couldn't fault the food, drinks and cleanliness of the hotel though. The surroundings are superb. Think we just got the wrong room on the day.

    Everything was great, clean. The shower design is a bit poor, the water ends up on the bathroom floor. The pillows were also not great. Not sturdy at all, really hard to get comfortable at night. If I stayed here again, I would bring my own pillows!!

    Definitely would love to overstay again

    The hotel room itself is in very good condition, very clean, neat and tidy, love that there is lots of USB sockets and love there is no carpet within the room. It has excellently located, walking distant from Birmingham New Street Station, and the view nearby is lovely. Definitely would love to overstay again.
