“Excellent”
The E & O Hotel is amazing, from the minute you walk in the door the staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. Every area of the hotel is spotlessly clean and the sea view rooms are fantastic.The buffet breakfast is absolutely the best anyone could experience with a huge variety on offer. Treat yourself to the No1 hotel in Penang you will not be disappointed.

Not very impressive inside
Looks grand from the outside, but inside the rooms are really old, and looks dirty. Some old hotels are still grand, clean and tastefully furnished - but not this one. Also expected better service from a 5 star hotel, eg. if staff is waiting for lifts with you, they will enter first.

Nice hotel but dont eat here!
Lovely hotel but quality of food for a 5* hotel was poor. Had dinner at Planters. None of dishes were well cooked -mostly overcooked as with calamari and seabass. Rib eye steak was poorly seasoned. Very disappointing meal. Breakfast was equally poor. Tried most dishes over 2 days and the quality of cooking was poor. Had undercooked eggs on both days. The roti was rubbery. Coffee was poor. A shame that in Penang that has great food, this hotel could not do better. Our stay was redeemed by a superb meal at a nearby hotel in their Indigo restaurant.

Fantastic Stay at the E&O heritage wing
Spent a night at the heritage wing. Very exclusive and cleanliness of the hotel and rooms are at its tip top. Staffs are friendly and welcoming. Definitely will be back and stay for more nights.

I had really high hopes for this hotel based on reviews (and price!) but whilst there is no question the hotel a elegant and beautifully appointed, I was left underwhelmed by the service which, by comparison to similar hotels in Malaysia was just average. This is a real shame. Had the service been of a higher standard, this would be a too rated hotel for sure. It’s no Danna Langkawi.

A fantastic time at Eastern And Oriental Hotel. Spent total of 3 nights with excellent service. Impressive breakfast with local delicacy. All dishes were delicious! All the hotel staff were so welcoming, which made us feel like home.
