Horrible place!!!
The only things that were enjoyable about this resort were the beach, water and room. The food/restaurants were horrible! The “steak” (I’m not even sure it was beef was the texture of shoe leather and the Japanese restaurant served disgusting tuna - the meal smelled like rotten fish! From the beach, we watched a local run past us and hide behind a tree - we saw the hotel security and pointed to where the local was hiding and then proceeded to watch and hear the security guy tell the local to stay put - the police officers then came around the corner looking for the guy and the security guy did not call the police over - instead he told the local which way to run to get away! The local guy ran away and then came back 10 minutes later and stole someone’s bag and then ran off! There are other incidents that I witnessed that were horribly wrong with this resort - I will never recommend this resort to anyone! The food was disgusting and it was not safe!

However, our room routinely was not cleaned, didn’t have towels, was replenished with beverages, etc. The room is not where we spend much of our time, but it was a hassle to track down help for things like that on a regular basis.

Riu Palace is a fantastic resort in all respects but one: it is impossible to take a decent shower in your room at any time of the day. The water pressure is that of a garden watering can, and the water is either too hot or too cold—never the right temperature. The plumber who came to fix it could not do anything about it and pretended that everything worked as it should, but that we obviously did not know how to use a shower. And when a person who is supposed to fix a problem starts blaming you for causing it, you know that he knows that the problem cannot be fixed. The resort is a paradise in which you cannot take a shower.
