BED BUGS
Terrible! Hotel is dirty and has BED BUGS. Enough said. Nothing else matters regarding location if the hotel is dirty. I reached out to hotels.com and they did nothing for me in regards to compensation of any kind. The hotel would not compensate me either. I was asked why I did not tell them during my stay. Well, I only stayed two nights and it wasn’t until the day I left I noticed my legs and my partners legs were bit up. I felt the itching through the night but did not think much of it. The stress this caused the next few days while vacationing in Italy ruined the trip. On top of it I am pregnant and am horrified how much anxiety this brought on. Front desk was not friendly and AC does not work at all, which is another complaint many guests had.

Hotel Santa Marina
Hotel Santa Marina. Pros. Room well finished and a good size for Venice. Nice bathroom. Breakfast staff very friendly and Breakfast choice good. Good location. Cons. Difficult to get a full nights sleep. Noise from other rooms and outside, during the night. Rooms facing the street on the left hand side of the hotel will experience noise in the early morning, anytime after 5.30am. This is from supplies being taken from boats to shops and restaurants nearby on pallets on pallet trucks on cobbled streets. Reception staff are efficient but not very engaging. A smile and some friendly conversation wouldn't go amiss. We have stayed here a few times and the cons on our list seem to be increasing. Probably somewhere different the next time we are in Venice.
