Downtown Boston’s 1960s boom financed some of the tallest buildings in America outside of New York City. However, its first high-rise was the modest 13-story Ames Building, built in 1893 as the headquarters of the Ames family agricultural tool company and now luxuriously refurbished as a boutique hotel.

    The 'skyline view' view photo was misleading... it showed a panoramic view of the Boston Common and this was not the case, asked see if there was availability to have a view of the commons and was told they did not have any rooms that had a view of the commons at all. Mini-fridge was not clean and furniture worn. Bit disappointing for a 4 star hotel.

    Great Location, Lousy Room

    I have stayed at different Kimpton before but the Nine Zero was a disappointment. Room was tiny, faced the brick wall across of the other building across the street so not much light, while lamps in the room not much light from lighting in the room, bathtub was old, and lastly we believe there were bed bugs where my mom got bites. Location was great but overall a lousy room. Totally not what the pictures show. Had I known, I would have stayed elsewhere.

    Kimpton used to stand for something

    Not terribly impressed. Rusty stains & loose door knobs in our bathroom. No premium channels or built-in streaming on the TVs. Restaurant is closed. Prefer the Fairmont.

    Issue with the door Room#1202

    Stay was pretty good and room was managed well and location is very good. the only concerning part was the room key. When we checked in, the door was not working and we couldn't get in tot the room. We requested for a key replacement and it didn't work either. Front desk requested an Engineer and we waited in the lobby until some staff checked us in to the room. And this process continued till next day noon and we had to inform from desk again regarding the issue with the door. This was really annoying for a guest to have asking to check in and out every time we get in or out. Also the last day when checking out at 12 PM, the door got locked again and had to call front desk to get our stuffs out and checkout. This was the most painful part of my journey. Front desk associate promised to wave off our first night rate as a good will which didn't happen till now. So I feel I am not staying with them again.

    Disappointed

    Our issue was the condition of the room. It seemed like it was unattended for a while. Dust on glass shelves and mirror, side table was damaged and dirty. Cabinet door for refrigerator didn’t close. Hook on wall was loose and unusable. We had stayed here before COVID and loved it. Hopefully management will make changes.

    Absolutely Wonderful

    Overall, the stay was excellent. The seal on the shower wasn’t the best and the flooring seemed slightly damaged (possibly because of the leaky shower) but the view was spectacular and the staff was incredible. Everyday the lobby had a wonderful aroma and the location was hard to beat. Tip for travelers: Your MBTA station for this hotel will be Park St. We enjoyed our stay and would totally stay again.

    Okay not great

    Our first room had a few things broken. Toilet door didn’t slide closed, telephone didn’t work. Only one blind on the window so it let loads of light into the room in the morning (two or a blackout blind would have been good). Nearly all the staff were great but there was a man on reception who was not as helpful. Everyone else was great. It seems odd paying an amenity fee when there is only a gym open and nothing else really.
