Cost Cuts and it Shows...Won't Be Back
Its incredibly short staffed and that is weighing on the staff that is present. Not really friendly. The valet team was great, but every other staff i encountered was dry... they would manage to muster up an 'Aloha' or 'Mahalo' out of job requirement it seemed. Very cold. It also seems as though the property had a consultant come onboard that was out of touch with the guest experience and only in touch with the bottom line. Menus and beverages appeared to have been strramlined across the board with everything being of mediocre quality. I had a room in the Makai tower that they upgraded me to, which was a plus, as its closer to the pools etc. Overall, the property is clean, well kept and a great family hotel option. The soft product is sorely lacking though...it felt like a 3 star all-inclusive property that provided set menus everywhere. At $300-$400 a night....I could be more forgiving taking in consideration the amenities and the decently kept condition of the property. At the $700+ a night that i actually paid...I am highly disappointed. This was my 6th time to the Hawaiian Islands and this property was my least favorite I experienced in Hawaii by far. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND nor will I come back to this Hilton. At a rate less than $300 per night...it makes it more of a contender.
