    Magical

We had the Myddleton suite which was very nice and clean. The bed wasn’t that comfy but still really liked the layout and decor. The castle itself is stunning although in need of repair, it added to its charm. At night it was magical. The food in Bertie’s was average and the service was good. Would recommend especially at Christmas as it’s so beautifully decorated and festive. Thank you I loved my stay at Ruthin Castle

    Overnight bliss

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Ruthin Castle last week. We stayed in the Lillie suite. The room was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful. We will be returning!

  • 4.0.Fair

    Poor value for money.

Our stay was not at all comfortable. The room was shabby. The bathroom plumbing was faulty and there was no decent shower. The breakfast was not up to the standard with stale croissants and Danish pastries. Very limited choice for vegetarians. Not at all good value for money.

    A truly historic place.

There is a lot to love about this hotel and it could be truly beautiful. I understand that it must be a real challenge to keep such an old building in good repair, but we did find it to be very tired and in need of some TLC. The food in the restaurant was very tasty.

    Nostalgic visit

We stayed here years ago for the Medieval Banquets & last time in early 2000’s so nostalgic visit,it’s been updated in parts but not all to the good in our opinion,Dining/Breakfast room black & red sorry but awful, our room down in the back of beyond, comfortable enough but some cleaning issues in the bathroom which has been brought to their attention. Breakfast is now a buffet & some of the food was a bit dry, sorry but it doesn’t give the thrill of being there like it used to

  • 2.0.Poor

    Very poor

When we arrived we had a bed that had been slept in. Changed to a different room. We’re given a bottle of wine which we had to pay towards for the inconvenience. Very overpriced and good poor quality. Service was not good as short staffed. No bacon, eggs, bread or bacon at breakfast.

    Could do better

After our second day we had no cleaning service (ie washing mugs, glasses) or replenishing of milks etc. Although a pleasant place/area to stay, the hotel itself is in need of some 'tic'. Probably not likely for a while in the present circumstances. Dinner menu very 'samey' - didn't change a great deal, also maybe because of the present circumstances.

Great location , nice view from our suite. The gardens are nice to walk around but be prepared to encounter peacocks and sheep. Some parts of the building need improvement/ redecorating.
