Tired old rooms
The time in Rotorua was great just the Hotel room wasn't the best. It was tired looking, the floor boards creaked really badly in our room and from the room above. We were constantly hearing doors slam as people came in and out.the bells rang every 15 minutes or so. Sky didn't work on the TV so we couldn't watch the AB's.Overall there was a lot of noise and discomfort.

Exceptional
First Rate Hotel with Old World Charm
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Prince's Gate Hotel. the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the location is excellent and the apartment I had was very comfortable. I also loved the outdoor hot pools.

Disappointed
We booked two night but decided to waste the second night after our first night stay. (such a waste of money..) The room is old and tiny, especially the bathroom. Looks quite different from the pics on the website. I know the hotel is old but it definitely needs refurbishment. Wi-Fi is also slow. When we check out, the reception person found we still have one night left. We said to her we were a bit disappointed about the room condition etc and she just replied "alright"...

Stylish in Rotorua
Excellent accommodation. Spacious and comfortable. Could do with some new wallpaper, but otherwise a great place to stay

Poor
Don't bother about this place
Rooms tiny and old, in state of disrepair. Restaurant understaffed. Restaurant staff overworked and very grumpy. They are more focused on the chores rather than the guests. Breakfasts guests have to help themselves to cutlery. Tables left uncleaned. Staff forbe you off when approached with a question about the menu because you are not at the table she looks after. Menu confusing as to what is included with the items. Hot water thermos near empty. Staff so overworked that they forget to smile and be civil towards the guests who pay for their wages. I have traveled all over the world, this is the worst service I ever had at a restaurant in a hotel. Won't be coming here again. Not good enough for a tourist town. No excuse even having had "a bunch of tourist" at breakfast before us.
