This will be our goto place whenever we’re in Rotorua. Only complaint is that a couple if the power plugs dont work so I carry a multiplug for hubbys cpap
It was a lovely, pleasant stay - was surprised by a room upgrade on arrival and advised of the late check out without having to ask. The old charms of the hotel worked a treat.
Overall I was highly impressed with this hotel. When you pull up outside to check in it looks utterly gorgeous, it's 99 years old and it just oozes old world charm. The reception area has beautiful chandeliers and stained glass windows which you don't see much of these days. Check in was smooth, on site parking is tight though, it was easier to park outside on the street (both options are free of charge) both nights we stayed. Our Estate room was mostly good, though I felt it could do with a bit of TLC (new coat of paint for starters), and the bathroom is very small, but otherwise it was fine (comfortable bed, decent shower, big TV). We particularly loved the 3 tier hot pool, like Goldilocks porridge there was hot, medium and tepid and you flit between the 3 as you desire. Happy Hour from 4.30pm to 6.30pm is good too, we availed ourselves of this on both days of our stay. We ate dinner in the restaurant on the first night (prices are high, servings are small) and the buffet breakfast on our second morning was good value at $20 p/p.
Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere.
Very old hotel, super noisy, small room and way too expensive for the bad condition this smelly room was.
Came to Rotorua for a couple of meetings so chose this hotel because of the price and I was pleasantly surprised at the size and style of the room. I would definitely stay there again.
Hotel staff friendly, attentive and helpful. Our room was adequate for our needs
Friendly and welcoming staff, comfortable bed and generous portions served at hotel bar. However felt the room was overpriced , the state of repair did not match price point and could definitely do with a refresh. Room presented as tired and quite tatty.
I would not stay here again, they charge you for stuff you never used, eg mini bar. I paid a rip off $8 for water, but they charged my card extra for chocolate bars which I never seen or ate. They rang saying they made a mistake but no refund came, then I rang and the story keeps changing and the charges. Now they say they will refund the amount but that is te5 to be seen. I do not like being charged for stuff I did not use, especially from a 4 star hotel. This hotel is very poor in communication and charging your card without your knowledge for extra money. I hope this refund comes or I'll take it further with a dispute
