The location was great. Our room was perfect. The service was not so great. Upon checking in they did not tell me about the fees if the room key card and the pool cards were lost, learned that from my brother. They did not tell me that I needed to make reservations for the restaurants. Was only able to get one reservation for the Italian place and it wasn't all that great. So we ate at the buffet the rest of the days and that food was not what it should have been. They should make that clear upon checking in. They don't allow you in the beach after 7pm. Also one of the pools close at 7pm. Every time we ask someone something, someone else says that's not correct. It seems like the staff was very unhappy with their roles. Everyone was always on their phones. The spa was the only 5 out of 5 stars. The whole staff in the spa was amazing. My massage was amazing. They even celebrated my birthday with a few decorations and drinks and a cake. I would never come back and don't recommend this resort.

Excellent stay! The resort was clean, the room was very nice and the pools and beach were amazing. Somehow we had a premium level package so we were assigned a butler and he was fantastic. There were a couple hiccups with our room keys and room safe and the staff dealt with them so quickly. My only criticism is that the food was so so but thats to be expected at a big resort like this. Id come here again!

I have stayed at many resorts in Punta Cana. The Occidental Caribe, by far is considered my favorite because of the way the resort is situated. It has a U shape which I find very pleasing and intriguing. All the buildings are within the U shape and over looking at both the beautiful pools and the blue white sandy beach. The restaurants, buffet and other amenities are spectacular. The staff is awesome. They all showed professionalism, courtesy and respect. One person who stands out the most was Leslie Vilorio on the evening shift. I really admire her for her professionalism and for always going above and beyond to meet the guests at their needs. The services that Leslie and all of the staff members provided to the guests on a daily basis is excelent. I am looking forward to coming back with my family again next month.

The food was good, the buffet was overcrowded and chaotic. there needs to be a better method for making reservations. We waited in line for an hour and a half to make reservations and we were not able to eat at three of the restaurants because they were booked.

The pool and beach were nice. Rooms were dated and finishes weren’t nice. Didn’t feel very clean coming in. AC wasn’t working in our room, couldn’t go lower than 78 degrees. Even in the indoor restaurants the AC wasn’t running. Food was ok, nothing crazy. The main buffet is primarily Dominican style food. Was difficult to get bartenders attention if you don’t speak Spanish. Small bars and it seemed like they couldn’t make a lot of different drinks. Definitely one of the cheapest hotels in the area. Only really nice thing was the landscaping in the area with the palm trees, flowers, bushes and grass. Gift shop is priced higher than it should be, obviously. All the amenities feel like they’re in the basement (gym, game room, spa, etc.) and even the casino - which had the typical casino feel with the colored carpet, lights, and mirrors but smells like a basement plus cigarettes.
