Charming bed and breakfast in the best location
I really enjoyed my stay at the College Club. We stayed in the Simmons room which was decorated very nicely. The service was excellent. I made a request for two twin beds around noon and was able to get such a room by the time we checked in around 6p.m. The room was huge! There were lots of comfy chairs. The bathroom was cute too. The shower was awesome! I'm not sure why some people complained about the water pressure of the shower. Mine was excellent. The building had a rich history. I felt like we were staying in my rich aunt's mansion. The building was very quiet. I never heard any other guests. In the morning, I heard a bit of noise outside my window. It must have been garbage day. The location was perfect. We were one block from Newbury Street which had lots of shopping and restaurants. We were also one block away from the Boston Commons. The breakfast was pretty good too. Just the basics - toast, bagels, yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal. I liked that there was real china and silverware, not plastic. They had complimentary cookies and tea and coffee all day. The cookies tasted homemade. My only complaint was that the bed was a little too firm for my taste and the pillow was flat and a little hard. Also, the room could have used some blackout shades, but I generally don't sleep-in anyway. Overall I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Good 6.0
Nice place, but some oddities
Our room was lovely, and large, and the bathroom was gorgeous. The building was quiet overall which was very nice. However, there are two odd things that I must make note of in a review. In the shower there was only one temperature knob in the middle. It had an "H" on it so I assumed how much you turned it on was how hot it would get. Nope - plain, scalding, unusable hot. My bf came in and fiddled with this odd piece underneath that looked like it could have had a knob on it normally. It was just a domed, smooth piece of chrome. No way to grip it! Luckily my bf has good grip strength and was able to turn it just enough so the shower wasn't scalding. My assumption is the cold knob was removed or broken off and it had not been fixed. Also, at 7:45am on checkout day, we wake up to a pounding on our door. 3 seconds later, there is another pounding. My bf is getting up & around the bed to go to the door WHEN IT OPENS. Yes, the staff knocked on our door early in the morning, did not announce who they were, and after less than 10 seconds after their first knock, keyed in and started to enter our room. It was only after we yelled in surprise and my boyfriend shut the door against them did they start talking. They said something about a leak and left. An hour and a half later they came back to put a towel under our radiator. They could have called up to the room, or at least announced who they were and given us a reasonable amount of time to enter. It was honestly really scary.

Exceptional 10.0
Quaint neighborhood, walking distance to shopping and dining. Beautiful turn of the century building decorated as such. Books on the shelves, plates and antique decorations, wooden staircase. It's current with Wi-Fi and security entrance. Only tv is downstairs in the common area, we were able to watch all the playoff games! Walking distance to back bay, orange line and green line plus Newberry street shopping and many restaurants to pick from! 2 blocks from Boston commons, a beautiful park bringing nature into the city! Staff was pleasant, breakfast was simple (yogurt, fruit, cereal, bread/toaster, juice, and a coffee machine (espresso, coffee, late, hot chocolate, water with assorted teas) ). I stayed in the Connecticut room, on the 3rd floor. Window seating, king sized bed (two twins pushed together), seating chairs, walk in shower (low water pressure is my ONLY con to my entire stay). My parents stayed in the Smith room on the second floor, similar experience but smaller shower. Road noise was tolerable, i slept great it didn't bother me at all. My parents mentioned it, so maybe because they were closer to the road it was a bit noisier? Either way, we ALL loved it and will definitely choose college club for our next trip to Boston! 4 stars and only cons - low water pressure, front desk isn't available 24/7 like a hotel. Definitely recommend.

Very good 8.0
This property was fabulous.. very historic feel and the room we had was beautiful. We had the room in the front so the sound of cars could be heard, especially during daytime hours. We were lucky to get a glimpse of two other rooms thanks to fellow guests and they were beautiful as well. Decorated in antique furniture. The bathrooms were newly renovated and very modern, but still with an old-timely feel. The only downside I have was with the response from the caretaker. If you didn’t know to check your email for the access code into the building he could get a little snarky.. my aunt checked in, but the email was sent to me.. so she didn’t have it. 2 other guests had the same experience, and didn’t know to check their email for the code. However all other correspondence with him was exceptional. He answered questions via text or call quickly and provided information regarding airport shuttles and transportation.. There is no “lobby” like a traditional hotel. You’re room keys are awaiting you when you arrive. I would DEFINITELY book this place again. The location was fabulous, a street over from shopping and the public garden. No parking on site, but parking was available at the Boston Common garage for about $30 overnight.

Exceptional 10.0
The hotel was charming; I liked the Victorian decor. It was so close to the shopping district in back bay and to the big park with the pond. It's in a great location and area. There was a water pitcher and water access that you could push a cup on it and get fresh water. They had a coffee machine with several kinds including hot chocolate and french vanilla. There was alarge tea assortment as well. There were cookies available for snacks at all times. The continental breakfast was nice and healthy. They had a computer for business use in the dining room. The only negative thing was the pillows were flat needed to be upgraded. The only ice I could find was in a little bucket in the dining room. My suggestion would be to have an ice machine installed somewhere or have a Yetti cooler with ice that won't melt.
