No Services
Deciding to choose a boutique hotel may have been a mistake for us in our late 60’s. There are no services except housekeeping. We had no help dragging our luggage over cobble stones from the “no parking anytime” zone we were told to park in for 15 minutes. My wife and I have decided that “boutique hotel” equals no services. The rooms were large but very dark. We had an interior room and really had no idea if the sun was out or it was raining. The lighting in the room was quite dim so that combined with no natural light made us get out our flashlights far too often. The floors are very creaky and we were always very aware of movement above or to the side of us. There was construction happening next door so the noise began at 7AM and went until three. At times it sounded like the construction was directly above us. When I asked one of the two desk attendants about it, I received an eye roll. There really wasn’t much cordiality at his hotel. From what we could ascertain, there were the two desk attendants who never got up, and a bartender. The photos on are deceiving. If only the hotel looked like the photos I could forgive the attitude of the staff and lack of services. If you decide to book this hotel, be advised that there is a homeless population living on the stoops outside the entrance. Do yourself a favor and do not prepay your stay. Leave some options open in case you decide to change hotels. BTW - parking is $40 per night after the discount

Nobody home....
We arrived to a room that had the heat on full, and it was over 90*. Of course, we turned it off and switched to the AC, but it was off for the season. We ran the fan for two straight days, it never got below 75* in the room. The hotel claimed they could do nothing and wouldn't switch our rooms. The smurf at the front desk said we needed to contact to make changes. In fact, that was really all she said. I guess that is kind of the problem with booking/paying for your room through The hotel doesn't treat you with the same level of care/respect. It's like you don't really exist. They can't fix your room, can't make changes, can't get you a receipt. I couldn't even get the front desk guy to get me a newspaper. He just said they don't have any. Next morning there was a stack. When you are on site at a hotel and need help, you want the staff present to assist. When all they do is refer you to call and you call to find you've been routed you to someone who doesn't understand your concern, speaks English as a second language, and is reading from a list of prepared replies, you wonder why you even called. =(

Right in the heart of all things Boston!
The hotel itself was terrific! It's located very near to Fanieul Hall and the Long Wharf. All Boston attractions except Fenway Park (we took the T) are within easy walking distance, including the North End. There is a T station just steps from the front door and by that I mean maybe 25 steps. The rooms are large, the beds comfy and the bathrooms good sized. My only complaint is that they are performing some renovations and the workers who were constructing started their day at 7:00am. Banging, power sawing, metal on metal pounding--you name it construction noise across the hall from our room at 7:00am. Did I mention this started at 7:00AM??? As noted by another reviewer, there is a homeless man who makes camp each night in an alcove just beyond the entry door. He did not solicit nor address us in any way. During the day he moved his "house" out to the sidewalk. While I felt sorry for him, it did not detract from our stay at all.

Exceptional 10.0
Great Hotel, perfect location!
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a king atrium room. Quite large and extremely clean. The only drawback is the lighting, the room is quite dark, even with all the lights on, other than that it was perfect. If you want bell hops, rolm service and valet, this is not the place for you. It is a no frills hotel. Close to everything, all short walking distance, aquarium, faneuil hall, the north ends little italy. If you've never been to Boston, we highly recommend the Duck Boat Tour, worth every cent! Well definitely return to Harborside Inn but will probably try a get a room with an outside window next time. We highly recommend the Harbordide Inn .

Very good 8.0
inexpensive overnight stay-exterior room
We stayed here after landing at the airport, to catch the next morning transport from South Station. We arrived at night, and, got room 606. although it was smaller and queen size bed, we preferred the windows facing the street, not the interiors. And, we were glad with our choice, not because we have any view, really. But, as the room temperature was so hot, close to 80F (although it was set at 71F), we had to open the window. The shower booth with the handheld shower and the queen bed are all fine but the TV was outmoded, and, the room is really really dark, especially with the 1 bulb at the door hall area was out. The room was small but that was ample for 2 people with big luggages, but the 2 steps are hardly seen in the dark room. The Windows are at the eye level and up, due to the fact that it is the old stone building with re-fitted guest rooms. and, that made us feel like we are enclosed and it was a slight disappointment until we got used to it eventually. The cleaning maid knocked on our door in the morning while we were still sleeping, and, almost entered our room but we screamed out and she shut the door. There is no bell service, which means we had to drag our luggage and walked to the corner to get the taxi. The day staff didn't say hello first and a little stand-offish. However, the low price and availability in a day's notice and the blue line-aquarium stop is great to cover Fenuil Hall-North End sides both. I would come back for a short overnight stay again.
