Everything that I need, at a good price
I seldom write reviews, but want to to address some reviewers concerns. 1. Self checkin was quicker than with a human being 2. The hold on a credit card to cover incidental costs happens in much of the world. Should be no surprise, and it goes away in a few days. 3. Perfectly new and sparkling hotel, with modern rooms. 4. Tiny window. Don’t care. I spent all day outside. 5. Literally never interacted with a staff member.

A mixed experience in Wellington
Nothing drastically wrong with this place, but in my step away from B&Bs or motels whilst in New Zealand it was a bit disappointing. At check in they wanted NZ$100 deposit with no real explanation. I'd paid in full in advance. I've often given credit card details but never had money sat pending on my card for the duration of the stay and the next 4 days! They had advertised a laundry service that didn't exist (one of the staff didn't even know it had ever existed, despite one of the lift buttons saying laundry next to it). At least tis seems to have been removed from listings now but too late for me. One of the blinds in my room didn't work but they couldn't fix it that day so I ended up switching rooms for the second night to a smaller room. I hadn't realised you had to ask for housekeeping either and originally thought they hadn't touched first room because of the blind, Staff were all polite but clearly inexperienced and just following rules they'd been told. A pity as it could all have been better.

4/10 Fair

Unusual. Clearly a new hotel which is modern in a good location. However, the room had no window (only a roof light which was temperamental), was not soundproof, not properly cleaned, the TV can only be used to cast your device to it, the bed was pushed against the wall so difficult to get in /out during the night. Website and signage says there is laundry but receptionist told us there isn't any. The corridors are also strangely dark with no light or windows. Were not aware of the $100 deposit until arrival.

Facility is the only good thing
Stayed in this newly built hotel for 3 nights in November. Only good thing is facility I'm afraid. It is a new property only a few years young. So yes, it is modern and fancy. However, service is a lagging indicator. Check-in service is acceptable to be fair, but housekeeping is a shocker. I did not ask my towels and bedding to be changed as it was a short stay. You don't change them every day at home after all and I get that. However, the room attendant was absolutely slack. I told her a few times face to face to top up the body wash and she simply told me they ran out of stock. What do you mean out of body wash? Rubbish wasn't cleaned only once during my 3 day stay and that only happened after I almost grabbed her hand in hand to do so. Cups were not replaced despite repeated requests which left me handwashing them on my own. Glad that I do housework at home and still know how to handwash cups and cutlery. I made the complaint to duty manager and he offered me complimentary breakfast which saved me from giving it a one star review. You wouldn't believe this happened to a Wyndham property. The service couldn't even match some of those hostels'. Location is good with walking distance to everything especially Te Papa Museum. Catch bus route 2 (Seatoun bound) to Wellington Airport for as little as NZ$2.50. Overall the facility kind of offsets the negative service but I still think they could have done a lot better to be able to live up to Wyndham's reputation.

They don’t service your room unless you ask! I didn’t find this out until after the fact. There was also a half empty bottle of Coke in the fridge when I arrived so I’m not sure how thorough the between-guest clean was. Advertised free WiFi but I don’t know how you get the password - the check in is a self serve machine. The tv also kept turning itself on during the night and woke me up. Overall actually really happy with the place, just would’ve been good to know that the room wouldn’t be serviced, and if I visit again I’ll make sure to turn the tv off at the wall. Room was clean and modern for a reasonable price.
