Ideal 3 day break
Lovely hotel . our 3 night stay was good but very noisy from the street outside on the Friday night and well into Saturday morning . Breakfast was a mixture of continental and cooked and was all very tasty . staff were friendly and very helpful and as we arrived late on Thursday evening we ate in the hotel which was also very nice and tasty and not too expensive . All in all a good little hotel .

Great location in the old town, good service and breakfast. If I have to pick a negative it would be there towels are old and threadbare and in desperate need of replacement but really you can deal with this.

Fair hotel with noisy neighbors
The best thing about this hotel is the location--only a few hundred meters from the Old Riga sights and restaurants. The worst thing about this hotel is the location--only a few dozen meters from 4 bars, at least one of which doesn't close until 6am. My room facing the street had three layers of windows, which did a good job blocking out the din of bar patrons taking smoke breaks on the street. However, the windows (and walls) were no match for the booming bass from the techno-pop music, which starts up around 11pm. If you are a light sleeper who prefers to sleep during "typical" hours, this hotel is not for you. Conversely, if you plan to party all night, this hotel is right next to the late night hangouts. I can't comment on the noise level in the rooms which don't face the street, but I must warn about anything facing the street. The room's air conditioning only managed to match the outside air temperature, and with the street noise, sleeping with open windows was not an option. The hotel's wifi was rather slow (maxed out at 5MB/sec), much slower than what you can get in restaurants from their customer wifi. In all fairness, there are a LOT of bars and nightclubs in the Old Riga neighborhood, so this noise issue might be found with other Old Riga hotels as well. For anyone interested in a quieter night's sleep, take a look at hotels more on the perimeter of the old town area.
