Pleasant stay at a little bit outdated hotel
Pleasant stay at a little bit outdated hotel, The host/owner very personable, great guy. Room OK, although with a noisy ceiling fan in the bathroom. My car's underside hit the bump at the steep parking entrance, there should be some warning.sign

Good place to stay
The inn is not new but is clean and well maintained. The owner actually works at the inn and he is very nice. it was about a 10 min drive to Killington ski mountain. The beds were clean and very comfortable.

Poor 2.0
Highly Overrated
We stayed at Greenbrier over the President's Day holiday. We are average people but we travel a lot so maybe our expectations are high compared to typical Killington visitors, but we can only describe this place as overpriced and outdated. Guy at check in was not friendly at all.  The toilet plugged up at first use, the noise upstairs sounds like they have a trampoline, decor looks like it’s been here 40 years. Stained carpeting, see pics of filthy pillow and tub, and we counted 3 holes in the lampshade.   Nothing is attractive, smells old and musty. Unfortunately to get a reservation this holiday week we had to pay in advance so we’re stuck here 3 nights.  We went back to the front desk to see if we could get someone to clean the tub or at least get some cleaners, no luck so we went  out and bought Ajax to make the tub usable. 10 minutes of cleaning made a big difference, see second tub picture.  No security here, they leave the back door open all night and rooms have old fashioned keys. Anyone can stay and copy a key and come back. At least it’s relatively safe Vermont.  They have a big attached gift shop. Our 8 year old said why would anyone buy a souvenir of this place?      On the positive side Steve who runs breakfast was always cheery and friendly. Breakfast quality was ordinary. There are so many high ratings for this place (that we believed)  we can only conclude they are fake. Some reviews say it’s like home. Where do these reviewers live in a 50 year old trailer?

Tidy, comfortable, classic
Staying at the Greenbriar Inn was a lovely experience from start to finish. The guestrooms are tucked behind the main road. Our first impression was one of welcome. The lights, wreaths, and icicles overlooking the lot were classic New England ski lodge. Late check in was pleasant & easy. After checking in, the family enjoyed a game of chess set up in a nook upstairs overlooking lounge. Another family was playing backgammon by the fireplace. A couple was enjoying tea in a corner. We were on the even numbered side of the inn. Room was quiet and, when we woke, our view was of snow covered trees. The inn has a classic feel. It's not corporate and sterile. Roses on the wallpaper, warm wood accents, like someone's home. It's clearly well loved by the owner, Steve, who we met in the morning. He welcomed us to the lounge for breakfast with coffee and a genuine smile. His sincerity is assuring that we had a pleasant stay was a contrast to the corporate hotel where we had stayed the night before. Breakfast was at shared tables with other guests. I felt like we were having breakfast at Steve's house; fresh and filling. Restaurants and the ski area are less than 3 miles away. Thanks, Steve. We'll come again.
