First time at a Marriott Resort, was let down
Was my first time visiting Las Vegas. Went with my boyfriend and I picked to stay at this location because it is literally a few buildings behind the strip and it does not charge those resort fees every other place does. Basically, I wanted comfort, a nice place to sleep between adventures out and about...this place seemed to fit that bill. Upon checking in we went up and dropped off our bags, freshened up and went out for a walk before calling it a night. When we woke up the next day that's when all these problems started. First, an unusual one, the water is hot. Yes, this can be somewhat comical...but it was either burning hot or excruciating. We couldn't get cold water out of any of the sources. We dressed, I quickly dried my hair. As I was drying my hair I noticed our mirror in the bathroom was missing a huge piece at the top. Adhesive was exposed as well as a backing but there was no mirror and no glass laying around. I called down to the front desk and explained my concerns, he verified we'd be in the room and sent maintenance letting us know he would be up within 20 to 25 minutes. Phillip came up to look over things, had to make two trips to I assume the maintenance shop to grab supplies. We spent about two and a half hours just waiting for this to clear up. Left, came back later and had a gift box from Phillip. Still had water issues, minor cosmetic stuff came up such as a huge rip on my side of the comforter with down filling falling out. Overall rating: okay

Enjoyed the off strip location with a short walk to Las Vegas Boulevard. Housekeeping was a travesty. Gave up 2000 points to receive housekeeping. No one told us it was "tidy up service." Housekeeping took dirty and wet towels off of the floor, folded them, and placed them on the towel rack. The carpet was dirty when we checked in, housekeeping did not vacuum and we had to inform the front desk. Coffee is good, however we went two days without creamer despite making the front desk aware the room had none. We told the front desk about housekeeping and we walked into our room and they'd literally delivered some 40 -yes 40 - towels. We'd merely asked for a one-to-one exchange of a dirty towel for a clean towel. Despite this, there is a nice gym (treadmills, cross-trainers, ellipticals, free weights, weight machines, and a great sauna). Staff were very friendly, polite, and respectful. Property could benefit from a stand alone restaurant. Existing space consists of a living room like area and ordering food from a wandering waitress. Server was polite and responsive. Food was good. No cost for parking, but it is valet, not self park. Two unremarkable pools, one on the 5th floor and another on the 38th floor. Pools are small and open chairs are a rarity. Had a 16th floor room with a view of the strip and a parking lot and were awakened each day at about 6 am with the sound of garbage trucks dropping garbage bins in the parking lot. Room was nicely decorated.

A "Crappy" Experience
We had cleanliness issues the entire stay. Besides the mystery stain on the bed, our toilet got backed up three, sometimes four times a day! For the first couple days, we simply thought the issue was our fault and proceeded to plunge the toilet on our own. Despite our efforts, the room started to smell, increasingly, like sewage. Finally, during the last night of our stay, the smell was so repugnant, my husband and me were unable to sleep. After several hours attempting to fall asleep, my husband decided to approach the front desk staff to fix our sewage problem. Turns out, the hotel knew that specific room was having sewage issues for the past couple weeks! Not once did they decide to 1) Warn us of the issue beforehand or 2) try to fix the issue during our stay when our room started to reek. If the hotel knew there was an issue, why didn't housekeeping work to rectify it? When it comes to sewage issues, this isn't just a sanitation issue, this becomes a health concern! Not only did they know about problem beforehand, but the lack of customer service, compassion and concern for our safety was abhorrent. They didn't compensate us for anything! They only offered to switch our room for the night, but at that point it was too late. We had to leave in two hours for the airport. We spoke with two managers, Kevin and Cameron who both told us they couldn't help us, but they would use this as a "learning experience" for the future. Are you kidding me?

No Comparison for the Cost
I have never left a hotel review before but I was so impressed with Marriott's Grand Chateau that I wanted to clue in other travelers. I reviewed dozens of hotels before I picked them because we've been so disappointed with several stays in Vegas already. Cons: no breakfast or room service. Pros: Too many to count. Valet Service: A+ (100% complimentary, gracious, fast, courteous) Customer Service: A+ (this is my 3rd year in Vegas for a conference and the customer service is EXCEPTIONAL. Every single employee was a pleasant experience, considerate, communicative, helpful) Location: less than a 5-minute walk to the strip with fantastic views, rooftop bar and pool, no long hikes to your room through casinos or from parking lots Cost: excellent bang for your buck. No resort fees. I had a villa with a kitchen, separate bedroom, living room, washer/dryer, massive bathroom. Excellent air conditioning in the heat of the summer, excellent hot water, TVs in both rooms. Very affordable for the amenities and location. Cleanliness: A+ Environment: very tasteful, very clean, comfortable, family friendly For being so close to the strip, for the cost, for the customer service, we have found a new permanent hotel when we visit. I missed free breakfast and room service but they have a market downstairs with a variety of fresh items and Starbucks coffee. Overall, what a difference a great hotel and location adds to your visit to Vegas. Highly, highly recommend.

Most of the staff was wonderful. 10am check out was way too early, especially for Las Vegas. People have late nights, and having to check out so early was a bit inconvenient. Our flight home wasn't until 8pm, so we stored our luggage with the bell hop which was great. Walked around town, came back to the hotel and relaxed in the lounge on the comfy couches and chairs and watched Sunday football. Lots of other guests were doing the same with their luggage either because it was too early to check in, or they had to check out early also and had no place to go until their flight. It was so relaxing that my daughter & friend dozed off sitting up while watching tv. I was approached by an employee, and was very upset that he said to me, "Are they with you? Well they can't sleep in here. You can close your eyes and sleep, but you can't sleep-sleep if you know what I mean". Only our girls were singled out for taking a cat nap sitting up. On nearby couches, older ladies were full on sleeping laying down on a couch and on another couch, an elder gentleman was very slouched with feet up on an ottoman sleeping, and none of them were told they couldn't sleep on the couch. I did not appreciate being singled out and scolded in front of hotel guests who were relaxing watching tv also. That was the only downer to our entire stay. All other employees were very friendly and helpful with directing us on where we needed to go for any of our needs.
