About this home
Designed in the early 1900s by colonial architect Samuel Hurst Seager as part of a series of cottages in Cashmere and Sumner, this centrally located holiday home once played host to famous crime writer and theatre director Ngaio Marsh. Welcome to Hurst Seager House!
Elevated to enjoy far-reaching views, this homely accommodation offers a peaceful space to settle right into holiday mode. The open-plan living area is drenched in natural light, while the French doors out to the deck offer that all-important indoor-outdoor flow.
On a summer stay, prepare some sides in the fully equipped kitchen and grill up all your favourites on the BBQ. Dine alfresco surrounded by beautiful gardens, before retreating to the living room to finish off the evening in front of the TV.
There's enough space and privacy for the whole family here, with 4 comfortable bedrooms plus a self-contained cottage accommodating up to 12 guests in total. Three bathrooms, plus a powder room, provide ample conveniences for your stay.
There are so many wonderful sights, shops and eateries close to Hurst Seagar House. Drive two minutes to fuel your morning coffee fix at The Birdwood, then set out for a day of exploring with the Christchurch Botanical Gardens a quick nine-minute drive away. Or why not take the kids to the Margaret Mahy Playground for a fun day out.
If you’re after an adventure further afield, New Brighton Beach is just 18 minutes' drive away, or make your way to Akaroa in less than 90 minutes to explore the French influence and array of sights and eateries.
