Not a good stay
I did not enjoy my stay unfortunately. I checked in perfectly fine and then proceeded to get on the elevator and see a note that the hotel will not have any water the next day for hours. I am not sure why we weren't told this at check in. The next day being we wanted to use water after we went to the beach, before we went out we asked maintenance if the water to our floor was back on. We were told yes that our floor was working properly, so we went to the beach. We came back to our room and the water at that time was working, until my husband was taking a shower. The water completed cut off in the middle of his shower. I called the front desk they apologized and they stated they ran into some problems and had to cut the water back off again. I told them it would have been nice to be notified about this. So I had to run downstairs to get bottles of water to rinse my husband off. Crazy! After that we decided to walk the boardwalk for the evening, we came back to the hotel and the bathroom flooded. We called to report it. Then my son went over beside the bed and his electronics were all wet. We checked the floor the carpet was completely soaked. The staff acted like they didn't believe us, but a lady did finally come up to the room to check the floor and agreed there was a problem. So then we had to pack up our room @ 10pm with two young kids and switch rooms. It just was an awful experience and I have never encountered issues like this before at a hotel.

Very good 8.0
Nice budget hotel in a great location.
It is a nice older hotel located right across the beach. The view is great. Takes only 5 min to walk to the beach. We had a room with a small kitchen so that was a huge plus if one likes to have a peace of mind about making one's own meals (it's smaller than on the photos but practical enough for its purpose). A reasonable room with the ocean view for a reasonable price. The only negative side was that the door leading to the balcony had no child-safe lock. So, we had to block it with a chair since we've stayed on a 6th floor with our 4-year old. Also, wi-fi was very slow. The Virginia Beach itself is also much better location for the vacation then some of NJ locations. We've probably seen only 2 police officers on the beach walk for our 5 day stay and, nevertheless, that didn't lead to any crime.. The beach is also completely free and people are allowed to smoke or have a concealed alcoholic beverage if they choose to. It is a great contrast to non-smoking payed NJ beaches where police presence is so great that makes one wonder if one is vacationing or visiting some city with high crime records... Also, many restaurants and bars/clubs are open late at night if one is an owl... All in all, a nice budget hotel in the great location.

my hotel stay at Econolodge oceanfront va beach va
my reservations were made and paid for online, all i had to do was check in. my room was on the 7th floor, i could only drive to the 4th floor park outside and get on elevator to the 7th floor, thank God it was not raining, although it was very cold. the next day no maid service even though i talked with maids in the elevator and told them i was on 7th floor and my room number.I did call the desk after checking in and complain about the Inconvenience of my room being on 7th floor and only could park at 4th floor level, and why i didn't have a more convenient room. also the second day the a man came to my room and told me they needed to see me in person at the desk, because i was not in the computer, when i gave the desk clerk my drivers and credit card of which she made a copy of, they did provide more towel and clean sheets in which we had to make our on bed, this is a first for me, just disappointed.

I booked a one night stay during September 3rd 2018 Labour day weekend.Having read other reviews I was already prepared for most of what I saw:Balcony is in a bad state of repair, could do with a lick of paint to cover up sea salt causing rust to balcony and railing.Balcony above was leaking air conditioning water onto our balcony. Extractor unit in bathroom needed cleaning as you could see a tonne of mothball like buildup inside unit! Swimming pool was really a bathing area for small children.Lots of garbage strewn about in parking area of hotel. Now good points:The hotel room AC worked extremely well! View from room balcony of the ocean was stupendous! Hotel room was quite clean. Also there is an added $1.39 or $1.50 a night charge for room safe wether you want the safe or not,it cannot be changed!I did not like this charge at all! After all is said and done very helpful staff and close proximity to the beach I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.

Nothing what I hoped for
Well to start, I wasn't expecting too much. Smoke detector kept beeping, but I fixed that. The safe didn't work. There was French fries under the bed. The sliding glass door to the balcony was the worst I ever seen, took 2 people to open and close it.the curtain to close off the patio only closed half way, but I fixed that the second night. The air conditioner leaked so much condensation that our balcony was flooded. Realized the second day that there was an old bucket out there to catch the water, had to be dumped every few hours. The bathroom door would not shut properly. The fridge froze everything we put in it. The gated parking garage was a plus for safety, so I thought. Somebody ripped our antenna off in there, we never drove out of the garage so I know it happened in there. I am sure there's more but I am tired of complaining, it's truly not my style. On a good note, the staff was friendly and nice, and I didn't see any roaches. All in all, we didn't go there to stay in the room anyways, but I don't see me returning
