Door key card never worked. We had to use a small key to get into the room. Remote for tv and curtains didn't work. Likely just needed fresh batteries. Spa didn't have wax, nor did the expect to get any shipped. Last day called reception several times to get a bellman, no answer. Great location near Central Station. Food was okay. People were very friendly and helpful but they didn't have enough staff. Shower door only covered half the bathtub, so easy to get floor wet. Probably would not stay again.

Lovely room with good canal view
Lovely and spacious room with a wonderful view. Good spa facilities. Overall very pleasant, only thing to point out is the lack of pillow options in bed.

Great hotel! The room was very comfortable and the staff is extremely nice. The food was mediocre quality but that is the only negative thing about the hotel tbh!

disappointing stay
This hotel looks nice from the OUTSIDE. But it has no parking area for taxi drop off that we had to walk in the rain to get to the hotel entrance. This is just a beginning: I stayed for four nights, one night Wifi was completely out for the night, the other morning water was stopped for hours. I tried to have dinner at the bar but they kept me waiting for 20min that I almost missed my concert. To be honest, this hotel doesn’t deserve a five star rating. Maybe that’s why it’s cheaper than other five stars. You can stay here as the location is great for vacay, but don’t expect anything like a five star.

Having stayed at this hotel before and having had an exceptional time; we were sorely disappointed this time. When we arrived we found the complimentary mini bar hadn't been restocked, one of the dressing gowns had brown stains, which we can only hope were hair dye, the sink didn't drain, and the air-conditioning was very noisy. On the second evening the cover for the air-vent over the toilet fell on my partner, which was a surprise whilst using the facilities. This was the final straw so we complained and were assured the problems would be fixed. Following the complaint the vent had been reattached and the sink plunged but the rest of the stay still wasnt up to the usual standard you'd expect from the Amrath. For example, we ran our of toiletries, as these weren't restocked fully each day and had to buy our own. We also found the mini bar restocking to be hit and miss. All and all, just not what you expect.

Poor 2.0
This, under no circumstances, is a 5-star hotel or facility. It is dark, dingy, and in need of updates. Comparable to a 2-3 star hotel.

Luxurious hotel
The worst thing I had to do was get out of bed everyday, massive sized beds with the best comfort ive ever had in a hotel. The second worst thing I had to do was leave the Spa facilities. I recommend taking a massage too. Great location, helpful staff. I will be seeing you again in 2020. Thank you.

Good 6.0
Ok but doesn’t feel like 5 star hotel
Heating didn’t work for the first night so we asked reception to check it out the next morning, when we came back to the room on the second evening the room was still cold so we had to go back to the front desk since there was no answer when we called a few times. Eventually they sent someone who finally turned on the heating and brought another portable heater with him.

Historic Hotel
This was a quirky hotel, set in a building of historical importance ((Scheepvaarthuis or Shipping House) which has retained many of its original features. I would recommend the free Saturday tour for anyone with an interest in architecture and design. Our room was very comfortable and large by Amsterdam standards, staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The complimentary mini bar was a bonus. We had not stayed in this part of town before and enjoyed exploring the local area. Lots of options to eat and drink, Nemo and Maritime Museum close by, convenient for Centraal station and an easy walk to the centre.
