I would like to bring your attention about a hotel named JASPER in Elizabeth st Cbd 4.5 star rating in Melbourne. I booked a room for 3 days online on 4th of July to 7th July. When my guest entered the room it was so stinky that he couldn’t resist himself to come out of the room without any second thought. I cannot even explain you the condition of the room. It was above the worst. I never saw such kind of 4.5 star room in hotel having STUCCO CEILING , OLD MATTRESS which was almost shrinked , cracked wall from all sides and many more stuff like that . Even i complained to the reception for this condition. Staff even couldn’t tolerate the smell in the room, they were not able to find out where the smell is coming from. But still at that moment we asked for another room but the condition of other room was similar. For my guest it was too critical circumstances because he was new to this place and that moment i didnt manage to help him because of any urgent work. We end up paid $225 to upgrade the room. Even I have seen the other lady was facing the same problem. She was yelling for refund too.But she couldn’t get the refund bcoz of non refundable policy. I am so much stressed and annoyed by the hospitality of Jasper hotel. Everything that has mentioned fake online and fake pictures has been uploaded to betray the tourist. If anyone want happy to share room SO CALLED 4.5 STAR HOTEL room images.

Poor 2.0
Terrible stay
We stayed there for 5 nights, as soon as we walked into our room, the room is very dirty with dust everywhere and is very old fashioned. We also had some terrible experiences too: 1. Duvet and duvet cover are both very dirty with marks on and duvet is actually yellow, I kindly asked the housekeeping lady to change it for me and guess what, she said NO for changing it! When the house keeping people clean the room, the will just do whatever she/he feels like, the bin won't be empty every day even tho there is rubbish in there. There's a hair on the wall of the shower and it wasn't removed for days. I don't even know what the housekeeping people are doing everyday 2. The glasses and cups in the room are very dirty with food debris and dust all over 3. Hair dryer with mould and full of dust 4. The room is full of bugs, my friend's hand got bitten by them and is still very swollen after 5 days!!! 5. The springs of the beds are broken!!!!! The bed is very uncomfortable and it actually hurt your back!!! 6. When we asked the receptionist to kindly make a phone call for us, he refused and insist we should call from our room. I have never been to a hotel which the concierge refuse to make phone calls for you for confirming a booking. At the end, receptionist did make a phone call for us after 5 minutes of explaining and he teased us about not wanting to pay several times. In general, this hotel is definitely not a 4.5 stars hotel, it should really be a 3 stars or less hotel

Very good 8.0
The staff are very helpful and friendly. One of the guests lost his wedding ring at the hotel, and the staff tried their best to find it. Not sure if they have found the ring. My room with access to the indoor area was very nice. Nice design and layout. However, the cleanliness of the room needs to be improved. I found mold (a lot) around the washing basin. The chair in the room is dirty as well.

Fair 4.0
Very poor housekeeping
Receptionists were helpful but understaffed as there was typically one person assigned to man the reception at all times. The same person has to double up as housekeeping after 2pm, and run random errands to deliver new toiletries or towels etc. Not the best staff allocation I’ve seen. Housekeeping is poor. My guess is the rooms are not vacuumed daily (if at all) as my room carpet seemed to get dirtier by the day. Housekeeping also fails to match international standards. There was a day I only left the hotel at 10am-ish. Prior to that I put the “do not disturb” sign and then flipped it over to the “make up the room” sign when I left. When I returned in the evening, the room was completely not made up. Called housekeeping and was told that housekeeping staff only worked till 2pm and that they only made their rounds once in the morning. I was told that I should not have put the sign to “do not disturb” and that when I left the hotel I should have told reception or housekeeping that I wanted my room cleaned. Well, (1) that defeats the whole purpose of having the “make up the room” sign as staff do not refer to it (2) I’ve only ever encountered this problem in this hotel - other places I’ve stayed in have had 24 hours housekeeping service and they were also 3/4 star hotels. Also, didn’t replace finished toiletries (I had clearly thrown the empty body wash tube away) Room has lousy pillows - very flat and even stacking two up doesn’t help.

Exceptional 10.0
The Jasper is a home away from home for me once a year. The beds are comfortable, the free bottled water is an excellent new addition since my last visit, the provided body wash/shampoo/etc. is lovely, and the hotel staff are all so friendly and communicative. Literally the only issue ever is that the rooms can be too warm in winter but I usually just open the window during the day and it's fine.
