Poor 2.0
Nice place to visit but not to stay.
We checked in got a room right away. A couple hours later I went to take a shower will taking a shower I noticed I had a very hard time breathing and that the shower smells musty I touched the walls and got all this black crop all over me. I shut the water off and stepped out to get my glasses I could not believe all the mold in the shower black hairy mold growing on the ground and in between the shower dishes and all the plumbing fittings I wiped with a towel and it was black all over the towel ident proceeded to take videos I brought the videos and the towel down to management and asked for a new room. Julie the desk manager looked at other rooms for us and told me all the rooms were like that some were even worse I went with her to look for a room with a mold-free shower we could not find one I finally settled for a room with the least amount a mold and cleaned it myself right in front of the manager I showed her how easily this came off whith a wet rag which means these showers haven't been clean properly in months because mold as thick and hairy as this takes quite a while to grow. I complain to the general manager the next day who denied it was mold this should be reported to the Board of Health. This hotel is way overpriced and then neglect to tell you that Thursday Friday and Saturday after 8 the lobby becomes a Disco and you have to fight crowds just to get into the lobby and the elevators also cost $55 a day to park your car. make sure you read all the reviews

Poor 2.0
A horrible experience
We arrive at 22:00 to the hotel after a long transatlantic fly only to find out that the hotel is overbooked and we have no room. This is despite the fact I had called the hotel 2 days earlier to reconfirmed our stay and alert them to our late arrival time. Initially I received no help from the hotel to find somewhere to stay. I called 20 hotels myself while also being on the phone to hotels.com for 1 1/2 hours I eventually had to hang up bc hotels.com person was useless to say the least!!!! I also found out that Liberty hotel had alerted hotels.com at 17:00 so in those 6 hrs until we arrived they had done nothing to find us a room. All of Boston was booked out. We had no choice but to sit in the lobby. My daughter finally fell asleep while I stayed up watching over our stuff. Despite approaching the liberty staff I was not receiving much help. Finally at 2:30 in the morning I guess the manager felt sorry for us an called a pretty bad hotel which found us a room that we were charged a fortune for. The next night we did stay at the Liberty as a room opened up but I found the hotel very ordinary and not as luxurious as I had expected. It should be rated a 4 star rather than a 5 star. A day after departing I find a new bill from them where Liberty charged me for mini bar items that I had not used. Needless to say I will not use hotels.com nor stay at the Liberty hotel again. Plus I have yet to receive a proper apology or compensation from either hotels.com or Liberty.

Fair 4.0
Rude & Lying Staff
The staff gave my room away, even though I was "guaranteed for a late arrival" (and had the paperwork to prove it). When I asked about my room, I was told in the same conversation that my room wasn't rebooked and sat empty which is why they had to charge me for the night. Both of those cannot be true, which leads me to believe they just lied to get out of a mistake they made. So after a cross-country flight I was left without a room to sleep, but still owed the ~ $360 I paid for the night. After that interaction, I then had to sit in their lobby for 4 hours (after a 5 hour flight) waiting for a room. But was more frustrating (and concerning) was the staff's response to the issue. I was told by one staff member "welp, hindsight is 20/20" and another staff member gave me a shrug and dismissively told me "there's nothing I can do". The thing is there was something they could do- show empathy, offer a cup a coffee, and some reassurance that my stay at the hotel would get better. I've literally gotten better customer service at a Holiday Inn. Its just disappointing that such a beautiful hotel is staffed by such sub-par staff. And this experience has made me really re-evaluate what I am paying for when I choose a 4+ star hotel. I want a nice comfortable stay, but really I'm looking for a staff who seems to care about its guests and is excited to provide great service.

Poor 2.0
Unorganized and condescending
We arrived at 5 pm on 11/25 to check in to our two queen bed reservation. The woman at the front desk told us they only had king rooms available. She ordered a quick clean of a double queen room and took our number and said it would be about 20 minutes. We took a walk around the neighborhood and never heard from the hotel. We arrived back and once again had to " check in" and the front desk gave us an " upgraded double queen room" and said they would deliver our bags immediately. They gave no explanation to why no one had called from our first check in. After waiting 25 minutes we called down to the front desk again and asked for our bags. They finally arrived ( by a very nice porter) but we were unable to shower and freshen up before our dinner reservations. The most frustrating part was the staff ( including the lounge waitress who told us there were always long lines at check in ...like it's normal??) ) appeared put out and snooty and seemed like it was no big deal to sit in their lobby with all our travel gear and wait.....I can understand if we were checking in early or right at the time allowed but we were already a late check in at 5pm. We understand things happen but in this day and age we were surprised by the poor customer service and not even a free beverage offered. Disappointed in Starwood!

Good 6.0
Rating offset by subpar Front Desk staff
Stayed for work w/ an extension of one day to see Boston. See below for the good and bad. My issue was with the Front Desk staff - when I checked in, our Exec. Admin had misspelled my name and the woman who initially looked for the reservation "couldn't find it" although there was only one other person w/ my last name, plus only a minimal level of effort to piece the misspelled name together. She simply did not want to make the effort to help. I went to another young woman at the front desk and told her the problem and she eventually found it but never apologized and copped an attitude the entire time. I noticed she omitted the part where she came out from behind the counter to guide guest (me) to the elevator like she did for all others. The reservation I made on Expedia was messed up as it took only my middle initial as the first name in their system - hence they couldn't find either of my reservations! After a failed attempt at cancelling the second night, they couldn't configure the key correctly that connected the two reservations and then sent the portfolio for the stay to the wrong email address (I wonder who has mine). Again, no apologies, just snotty attitude on the part of the second of the two front desk folks who was working the day I checked out.
