Too expensive over the high rseason
AS a family we took an entire villa over Christmas. Incredibly expensive and certainly not worth the price. A lot of money has been poured into the accommodations and the landscaping. However our appliances were old, the bathroom floor was missing large chunks of grouting, and the doors did not shut properly allowing san flies to enter and torment us. NO money was spent on the reception area comes as it is a shack. there are no sailboats or motorized watersports. The offered tours are excellent, but expensive. The single restaurant is very good. However, the food and the common areas pale with repect to Jaguar Reef down the road.

A lovely stay at a high-end resort
Hopkins Bay Belize was amazing! We spent two nights here in a 2-BR suite with a full kitchen. This is a 5-Star Resort as far as I'm concerned. The resort adds special touches like fresh flowers on the beds and in the bathroom, robes. Our suite was sparkling clean, and the beds were comfortable Hopkins Bay attempts to be environmentally friendly, so they provide reusable aluminum water bottles for each guest and each suite has filtered-water dispensers. There is a safe in each bedroom. The pool was enjoyable (there are two, but one was closed for renovations). Massage services are available, and Kira gave an excellent deep-tissue massage. There are complimentary kayaks, paddle boards, bicycles, board games, and bachi ball. The property is located on the edge of the ocean, and staff rake the beach every morning. We really enjoyed our stay.

Could be better if...
I wish they proved mosquito nests. Don't try the mash potatoes. And the exhibitions are twice as expensive than finding a tour guide in the community. We had loud neighbors but besides all of that, it was fine. The rooms were beautiful and well kept.

A mix of luxury and not luxury
Cookie cutter tourist resort. Not a bad place, but nothing great about it. The room itself was half luxurious, half outdated. Weird noises at night that woke all of us up. Coconuts dropping perhaps? Belize just doesn't do luxury unless you pay out the nose.

Beautiful but not clean
The staff was always friendly no matter what part of the resort they worked in. The grounds are beautiful and most of the rooms have a nice view of the sea. We have stayed here before and the experience was all positive. However, on this stay it was quite different. The room we we assigned to was not clean. An end table and a small round table for sitting both had pools of oil on them, presumably to condition the wood. However it was not wiped up. My wife sat her purse in one of the pools before we discovered their presence. There was dried coffee stains on the surface where the coffee maker sat and there was dirt or dead bugs in the cup for the creamer. The.cups and saucers looked greasy and smeared, hopefully o wiped with the same cloth used on the wood furniture. The bathroom mirror had tape residue in several places and it was smeared. The toilet bowl was dirty and didn’t look like it had been cleaned for a while. The shower had a bad drip that might have kept us up all night listening to it had we not asked for a different room. The right hand door going out onto the veranda was nearly frozen in place. The rollers under the door are evidently not being maintained. One of the four curtains was inside out but was never noticed by the cleaning staff. The next room had issues too, but was nowhere ear as bad as the other one. Unless management gets their act together, you may not want to pay that kind of price for a dirty room.
