The Standard is the standard
The good and the bad. Way more good than bad. Start from the beginning: it took way too long to check in because counter was understaffed, although when we reached the counter Kelly (?) was great. Very pleasant and worked hard to get us the best room available. Room was a little cold, not in the underheated way, but the severe, sparse way. It was also on the small side. However, the room was impeccably clean and the bathroom had a heated floor - awesome. We went out for dinner and returned for a few drinks at the bar. Great, attentive bartenders and a great selection of music. The lobby bathrooms are like mini-suites, each with its own sink and mirror. Nice touch. We retired to a very comfortable bed, which led to the only major negative of the trip - a very hard to find and figure out noise machine that kept beeping at what seemed like 20 minute intervals the entire night, which woke us up over and over and over. That was brutal. The next morning we had breakfast downstairs, which was very good. The service could not have been better. Kelly (?) was again at the counter when we checked out. She remembered us and asked about our night, which we had discussed before we went out the night before. Give her a raise. All in all, a great experience, minus the noise machine. I would definitely recommend.

Location was only good point
The location was the only good point of this hotel. We paid extra for a corner room, thinking it would be worth the upgrade, only to find we were the room directly above the hotel’s bar which turned out to be a nightmare. At 11pm every night, the bass from the music would thump under our heads until 2AM. There were ear plugs in the bathroom which I found odd until our first night. We asked for a higher floor and they told us one was not available. I have never in all of my travels had a more horrible time sleeping. The room was more tired than we were: Worn and stained carpet and I swear our bed wasn’t clean the first night as the second day we had a fresh (unstained) duvet and the bed was made differently than we found it upon arrival. At checkout, we told the front staff we were going to brunch and asked if we could keep the room for two extra hours. They obliged, which was very appreciated, and told us to let them know 15-20 min before checking out that we’d need our car, which we had parked with the valet company upon arrival. We followed their instructions and waited curbside. After 30 min. my husband went back in to inquire and was told, “Hmm...I wonder why they’re not here?” And said they would call again. 45 min. later my husband went back in again and as the front staff saw him, they said from the desk, “It should be here soon” like he was bothering them. After exactly 60 min. of waiting (in 95 degrees!) our car showed up.

Good 6.0
great area, easy access, and quiet room
I spend 10 nights at this hotel (Apr 25- May 5, 2017) [area] I used to live this area. That is why I chose this hotel. a lot of party things going on outside, very easy access to anywhere Manhattan (you can take 6 LEX train and N Bway train from Astor pl station near your hotel like 2min walk) Very noisy area until morning; however, very safe area because of a lot of students around especially NYU) [Hotel Staff] Great greetings. If you were using penthouse of this hotel (21st FL) would be VIP otherwise I do not understand why they are standing. Even I asked booking their restaurant "Narcissa" (same hotel 1st FL), they cannot book the restaurant, so NEVER use hotel person. THEY ARE NOT EVEN CONCIERGE AT ALL. They sometimes carry looks like rich guy's bag or beautiful ladies' bag to outside of the hotel which means they choose the person who wants to carry his or her bags, so good luck! over all DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING to them. [Room Cleanliness] very dirty but sometimes clean. Totally depends on a person who clean up your room. but mostly dirty. [Room] VERY QUIET -NICE not so big compare to others. good enough space to enjoy but not for family use. I would recommend single person who want to go drink at night near your hotel. [Bed in your room] very soft. almost too soft. if you do not like soft bed, I would not recommend. [21 FLOOR] OH VIP! once 21FL ppl in the room, the elevator will stop. It takes very very long time.

Good 6.0
Good location in the East Village. Close to galleries and museums. We ate at one of the 3 hotel restaurants and they had had great specials that tasted delicious. The service through the front desk however was disappointing. Even before arriving I had to call multiple times to obtain information on parking at the hotel as the receptionist wouldn't know the answer and the call would get dropped in transfer to someone who might. On check in the staff were generally buys talking among themselves and curt. They seemed to have more important places to be and made us feel like they were doing us a favor by answering our questions about the room and the amenities (of which there were basically none in house.) There is no fitness center; rather we are given vouchers to go to the gym across the street. The only saving grace was the doorman on the way out who delivered our car promptly and was helpful and attentive throughout the checkout process.

Great location, service & rooms not up to par
Staff seemed unprofessional and disinterested. Upon arriving, there was no help opening the doors or managing luggage. The front desk was small and crowded with other guests. The person at the desk helped switch our room to a higher flood, which I appreciate, but when I phoned down for some small items there was no response. Hit my leg 5 times on the frame around the bed, which makes a small space smaller. There was only one bathrobe for two people and there wasn't lotion until the 2nd day of our stay. The closet rack was backwards, so that it was hard to hang clothes, there was no storage space, and the lighting was something out of a horror film. For the same price, I stayed in the Nomo down the street, had a much bigger, cleaner space and exquisite service.
