We had a fabulous stay here with our dog Chester who was welcomed by all. The hotel is situated across from the main park and within walking distance of the majority of shops and cafes.

Lovely hotel.

Really great hotel. Staff were so good and helpful. Although the hotel is extremely old, I couldn't fault it. We had a great time.

Lovely old hotel

Had a lovely stay. Yes, some of the decor looks tired but it is a very old hotel with lots of character. I booked 3 rooms and we had the smallest bed, but it was very comfortable. We had a drink in the "Whine bar" which is small and busy in the evening and also breakfast, which was one of the nicest, self serve, breakfasts I've ever had. All the staff were attentive and friendly but the lady on reception and the lady on at breakfast, were especially lovely. Just one thing to remember, if you use the lift, please shut the metal gate and door when you get out as it cannot be called/used from another floor, if not.

Overnight stay to attend a wedding

Never been to Buxton and was to attend a wedding at the Devonshire Dome. Chose the hotel for proximity and definitely did not disappoint. We were close to the centre and within walking distance to the major attractions and local pubs and cafes . Just across is a beautiful park and Pavilion. Just happens to be a local super hero event too , so lovely stay and nice first visit

The Old Hall Hotel - 9 May

Buffet self service breakfast was good but would be improved by more choice of fruit, continental and pastries. Option for other cooked eggs was not explained nor shown any table menus. Hotel in great location with plenty of available parking and adequate for overnight or limited length stays

Perfect location for our weekend stay in Buxton.

Really enjoyed our stay in the oldest hotel in England. It was full of character with a comfortable bed and the staff were really friendly. The breakfast was amazing and set us up for the day and we would certainly return.

Great Hotel

The staff were very friendly, efficient & polite, really good and a credit to the hotel. Nice historic hotel in a great location for the town & Opera House. Comfortable bed, big room, good shower, very clean. Carpet maybe needs updating but it didn't spoil our stay. I haven't been to Buxton for a number of years & sadly like a lot of towns, there are lots of empty shops. Would return to the hotel

Great place to stay

Great stay as usual
Andrew, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Overpriced and in need of refurbishment

It is a very old building in need of a complete renovation. We paid £160 a night which is not what you would expect from a property in these conditions. It does not have parking (you need to pay extra for street parking) and they charge additional £20 if you have a pet. Again double what others do. A bit of a rip off.

Lovely room with a large bathroom..quiet and comfortable..absolutely no faults...we had lunch in the bar..delicious..especially the camembert.
Michael, 2-night trip

Very Old Cosy Hotel. Lovely Comfy Bedrooms and nice bathroom. Great views of Buxton Park. Fab Breakfast. Very Friendly helpful staff. Will defo be returning.
DAWN, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Very good value for money. Hotel and B&B prices are on the pricier side in this area and this hotel is very fairly priced, we had a lovely twin room and bathroom and freshly cooked breakfast. Parking was just £6.50 for 24 hours. Location is excellent, just across the road from Buxton Opera House. Would stay again!

Always great!

This is our third stay here and it’s always such a relaxed and friendly stay.
Amanda, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

We stayed here for a girls' weekend, and the hotel was really well positioned and a lovely old building. Most of the staff were lovely, and it was nice and clean. Our room (3 person family room) was missing a few basic amenities like a toilet brush, hair dryer, full length mirror and the ability to turn off the radiators (it was really hot), but the view of the park and the location and quaintness of the place made up for it.
Rachel, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The Old Hall Hotel is a very old historic building located in a very central location in Buxton. The staff were welcoming and genuinely seemed to care about whether you had a good experience. We enjoyed a great meal in the restaurant and were comfortable in our room, which was basic but very clean and sufficient for our needs.
