Nice place but save your money
The staff was nice but not helpful if that makes since, they are always smiling and have nice things to say but if you have a question they wouldn't know the answer since 90 % of the staff is from somewhere else and is only there for 3 months, which they will tell you every time you ask a question or for help lol. They can not control the temperature of the hotel, it is preset by management and can't be changed, you will see signs on the windows saying the glass is sound proof, which is true, but when you room is 87 degrees it doesn't matter because you have to sleep with the door open which means you hear the people at the bar till 2 am. The hotel is geared towards families given the steep prices so all you hear is kids storming through the hotel, and the all are not sound proof at all. Above us was a family with what I would guess would be 3 kids from the amount of noise they made. We called hotel staff on the second night when we couldn't stand the noise anymore coming from above us. they said they would take care of it at 10pm. we made the second call at 12pm when nothing changed. The second time they told us that there was nothing they could do, they had already spoken with the family. The 3rd night we asked to be moved and the hotel wanted to charge us $200. When we asked to leave on the 4th night since they couldn't control anything in their hotel, they said we paid through Expedia so we would be charged for the full 5 days and that it was between us and Expedia.

Slightly disappointed
Hotel is very nice. Pleasantly surprised when we came in the room and found it to be 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. We reserved a 1 bedroom and one bath. So, initially we were happy with the room. The problem was that the bedrooms were very warm since the a/c is a portable unit for the living area only. The next problem was with the ceiling fan in the master bedroom. When on high it vibrated so much that it looked like it might actually come off the ceiling. And it was extremely loud on high so it had to be used on low to medium so the room was not cool at night. To top it off, we could not keep the window open because it was so loud down below because of all the restaurant/bar, etc. activity. We called the front desk the next morning and they sent maintenance personnel up immediately, but when he looked at the fan briefly he said that it could not be repaired because it was so old. He did give us a floor unit, but that was very loud as well. He said he would notify the front desk of the problem. We did not hear from the front desk after this. Finally, while we initially liked the idea of the room in the Village Plaza, this turned out to be less than ideal. As I said, it was loud into the morning hours because of the activity. In addition, they allowed "pickup" soccer games to take place in the plaza area where a large percentage of the foot traffic is. This was annoying, dangerous, and very unprofessional of a 4 star hotel. Probably won't stay here again unless this changes.

A bit disappointing
We travel a lot, and I almost never have anything bad to say but this was pretty disappointing for an otherwise glorious ski trip. The entire "Village" construct at Mammoth is admittedly corny - faux European walking paths among a shopping mall of boutiques, burger joints and Starbucks. For the family member who doesn't want to ski, it's the perfect escape from an otherwise bored-to-death experience just waiting in an empty condo for the skiers to return, so the premise works, and the gondola to Canyon Lodge is very convenient, BUT the actual hotel was not up to expectation. It's all price/value associated. At $175-$299/nt., you expect a lower level of comfort and cleanliness but north of $300 the room should look and feel a certain way. $400-500 should be Ritz-Carlton level of comfort. This was $350/nt so there was some expectation that everything should be right and even a bit fancy, but it felt like a run down Hilton in Des Moines. Trim falling off the walls, carpets ripped with holes in it, windows that didn't open or had bent screens, etc. MOST importantly, literally the worst, most uncomfortable beds/mattresses I have ever slept on at this price point. That goes for the master bedroom and the kids pull-out. And the pillows they gave were like plastic bags filled with Cream of Wheat. Not one proper pillow, & a headboard-like contraption that was engineered so you could not sit up in bed at all. Not enough room for ski stuff & heater stuffed into only closet.

Perfect family resort! Location,Location,Location!
First time to Mammoth Lakes, which was made more of great experience due to the resort. I would recommend no other place when traveling to Mammoth as you get the whole experience from its location. You have all the restaurants and entertainment right next to you which makes for a great view a relaxing evening on your balcony. Rooms are updated and encompass almost anything you'll need on your stay. The gondola ride up the mountain to the one of the main lodges is steps away. The hotel provides easily accessible lockers out the exit so you can grab your gear and head out at the crack of dawn with Starbucks within eyesight. Only unsatisfactory thing I have to say was the temp in the room was way to hot for this SoCal resident even with the snowy weather outside. There was no thermostat in the room to adjust. We called the front desk to send some one over to assist however no one ever came. We ended up just leaving all the windows and balcony door open. I dint ruin the trip or anything however the fact the hotel did not even acknowledge says something. Which is sad because the girl that checked us in was so nice, helpful, and laid out the land so well.

Nice Resort, Beautiful Location a Little Noisy
We booked a 3 room 3 bath unit for a family of five and the accommodations were very nice and clean. Great location with lots of varied activities easily accessible by walking or a short drive. We also were able to get to Yosemite Valley within a 2 hour drive and into the park within an hour. Only a few complaints: The hours of operation for several of the restaurants/shops were either not listed or closed fairly early in the 1st part of the week. This however seemed to change in the last part of the week as I guess more guest began to arrive Thursday and Friday. Because our unit was located overlooking the village square, the noise from the nightlife extended into the early morning hours (2am) on that Friday and disrupted our sleep before we had to get up early for our drive back to the Fresno airport. Inside the unit a couple of the ceiling fan/light combos were only controlled by remotes and the remotes were nowhere to be found. Overall our stay was pleasant and we made some great memories as a family. Next time I would see about a different unit that didn't overlook the interior as that would suit our family better. The staff was all friendly and helpful at the resort.
